Hi I’m new to the forum and could do with some help, the display on my 2018 765 r will not come on when I turn the ignition key. When I press the starter nothing happens, the only thing that comes on is the daytime running lights and the tail light + break lights work, I thought it might have been the battery so I’ve installed a brand new fully charged battery but the problem remains Any help would be greatly appreciated
I have the same problem, what is the solution?

I seem to have the same issue now aswell...
Have just installed heated grips yesterday, tested them and they worked fine. Now checked today because I needed to re-install the fuel tank. Now its broken...
LED lights are on, but everything else stays off....

Man I loved that bike, but that **** is enough reason for me to sell it I think... What a freaking desaster.

….and I’m another one with the same problem. Assumed a dead battery at first, but just installed a new one and still the same . Fuel pump whine then nothing else. What are people being charged by U.K. dealers for new ones including fitting etc?

I’ve seen there are quite a few on eBay, however also read they need coding to the bike?

just updating this for anyone else that finds the thread via the same issue. Firstly, the current dealer cost in the UK is £1150 plus labour. I actually had it booked in, however I saw the post about Autotronic and sent it off to them. £250 and it’s all sorted 🙏

so, if you have this issue and you’re out of warranty I’d recommend them for sure. Took about a week in total.

I have a 2017 ST 765 RS in Malaysia. In early 2024, whilst I was seeking medical treatment, I did not ride it for a month or more. In March 2024, I tried to start it but the screen was dead. I eventually managed to remove the battery (positive terminal bolt and captive nut were seized), charge it and try again, with no change. I fitted a new battery but to no avail. On 16th May, I gave up and had it taken to the nearest Triumph dealer. On 29th May they advised that the bike was running but that "this issue will be happen again if you did not change the instrument meter".

They were right; I managed to drive it 14km before it gave problems! I pulled into an emegency lay-by and the engine died. The dash lit up intermittently but I could not start the bike; it died completely and I had to get it trucked to a trusted repairer, closer to my home. This was on Penang first bridge, not the best place to breakdown.

Clearly, there is an inherent problem with this component and, since Triumph have replaced some free outside of the warranty period, they should do the same for everyone. I will write to Triumph and seek redress but I don't hold out much hope.

If you are in UK, can I suggest that you write to all the bike magazines about the problem and ask them to seek answers to just how many failures of this component have occured and how many have been replaced free, both under warranty and outside the warranty.

UPDATE: I had the bike collected by an independent bike repair shop that I had used before for my previous bike. He checked it and has got the bike running with TFT screen operating normally. He says it is the rectifier that is the problem so the battery is not charging, which would explain why the bike died after 14km. However, a new rectifier is about the same price here as a new TFT screen!!!! Ho hum. But why didn't the Triumph dealer find this out???

We had a brand new tiger 1200 in the shop recently and after disconnecting the battery to do some work, the TFT dash would not turn on. It was not damaged however, we found that after leaving the battery disconnected for about a day it started working again. I believe there are capacitors in the dash that need to discharge for it to reset.

Try disconnecting the battery and leave it for a day or two, then try it again. Make sure you disconnect the negative lead first when removing a battery, and connect the negative lead last when installing.

Just happened on my bike. I installed those pillion footpeg cover and had to remove the battery. TFT dash never lit up after putting everything back :( I wonder if there is any company here in the US that can fix it
If it isn't fixed by disconnecting the battery for a day or so as suggested by dementedbrave, see the post by sagalout above. I see from a Facebook group that several owners have sent their TFT display to autotronics by UPS, DHL etc. and had them fixed and returned by courier.

Further update: Rectifier being replaced by one ordered from Kawasaki, which the trusted repairer assures me is identical, at slightly more than half of the price of the part from Triumph!

Same for me. 2020 765 RS out of warranty. Bikes been dry stored, never ridden in the wet. Never jet washed. Came to use the bike after winter and assumed it was a dead battery but DRL and plate lights still worked. Swapped the battery out anyway for a brand new fully charged unit. DRL still on and plate light but no dash and nothing when I try to start. Emailed aftercare at Triumph and they don't want to cover it. I have asked how they can leave valued customers in this position after fitting parts which are known not be fit for purpose and there has been no recall. No movement so it looks like Autronics is my only option and then sell the bike. I was originally planning to move to a speed triple after this and start hitting some track days etc. No way I'm risking another triumph after this.

Parts and labour from Triumph is £1300 plus getting the bike there etc.

Autronics is £230 if it works and just down the road from me. No idea of ODO will read correctly after this...

**** show Triumph. From a bike I loved to a brand I now hate.

It really is a shame Triumph are letting this TFT issue go on without admitting it's a major fail point. The bikes are solid apart from this issue. The bikes fitted with the regular cluster have been faultless. More than a few owners have actually fitted the standard cluster from the later R models rather than risk having another TFT fail.

Update: I sent my dash to autotronics and just got an email from them. They said that my dash is beyond repair and is potentially having software issues so they are sending it back. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I really dont want to spend $1000+ for a new one.

I might try to do this. is this plug and play?

When are they sending it back?

I might have sorted something with Triumph on a new dash so do you want me to see if Autotronics can repair my old failed unit?
