Hi, sorry to hear about your screen. Right before you disconnected the battery had the bike been powered on? Do you remember in what order you removed and installed the positive and negative cables? Just trying to pin-point a common cause of failure. Please before you send your screen out for repair, try unplugging it and let it sit for a few days then try it again.
I let it sit for 5 days but it still not switch on...

I was thinking maybe there was a capacitor that needed to discharge. We had a tiger 1200 screen that failed to turn back on after removal of a battery. It was left unplugged overnight and we got it to work the next day when trying the "failed download recovery" procedure in the service manual. But it was unclear why it started working again.

Further update: Rectifier being replaced by one ordered from Kawasaki, which the trusted repairer assures me is identical, at slightly more than half of the price of the part from Triumph!
Another update:
In November 2023, I had a minor accident which resulted in the left headlight glass being broken. Upon finding that it was necessary to replace the entire headlight unit at an exorbitant cost, I claimed on my insurance. It took almost a year to agree the claim and I rode the bike to Triumph for agreed repairs on 11th October, at which time it was working perfectly, and handed it over to GB Motorcycles.

On Thursday 17th October, I received a WhatsApp message from the “Service Advisor” advising “Mr Alan, I want to inform you that your instrument meter is broken due to a short circuit. The bike is unable to start.” There followed an exchange of messages and a complaint to Triumph UK. Eventually, I've been offered a 50% discount on the price of a replacement (which is 53% more than the price in UK without VAT) and free installation. I've suggested that they send the unit to Autotronics instead.

Stay tuned for developments!

New to the forum, and had the exact issue on st RS 2018, took the dash to a local electronics repair shop with no luck… waiting on a replacement from eBay with broken glass, and at least salvage that from mine… anyone thinks there’s hope of a class action? Or something that force them to a recall? View attachment 812138

Unfortunately, Autotronics could not repair my unit so I'm having to go back to GB Motorcycles who will charge me the equivalent of GBP750 to replace it. All credit to Autotronics who refunded the charge of GBP200 and half of the courier fee since there was no point in returning the unit.

What a sad day finding this thread :( 2018 Street Triple R here. Dead TFT display after attempting a battery swap. I disconnected the negative terminal first because that's what google said to do. DRL's and brake lights work, no horn or blinkers. Towed it to dealer and they want $1800 to replace.. what a debilitating blow it was to hear that. I'm in the US and have 19k miles on the bike, haven't had much in the way of issues until now other than a leaky stater cover gasket when I first go the bike with 1600 miles. Disappointing triumph won't take responsibility for what is clearly a faulty display that clearly should have been recalled.

Ugh. Sorry to hear. The least Triumph could do, imo - since this seems to be a flaw, is sell us the replacement TFTs at cost.

Looks like this sold and for $500! Not bad for a broke display - I've been keeping mine around for no reason....maybe I should try and sell as well...
No - some guy bought it and asked to cancel the order and I allowed it. So mine is still available. Am not available to ship it til August 10th, though. So if you are reading it and wanna buy it - that’s the earliest I can send it out.

See my previous post in this thread. A UK firm called Autotronics can repair them for £200. You need to send your unit by courier to them. In my case they couldn't fix it so they refunded the £200 and the return courier fee as there was no point in returning it. Worth a try!
