I believe I have figured out what was causing my intermittent Battery system fault > Transmission Fault issues that started recently. So, this thread is just to put out what I believe should fix the issue. I did do some searching and this fix was mentioned, but I wanted to title and tags to be specific to help out future searchers.

Issue:
-Intermittent "Battery System Fault" that quickly goes away to be replaced with "Transmission Fault"
-"Battery System Fault" sometimes comes back on after going out
-Bike enters limp mode and QS stops working due to "Transmission Fault"

Temporary Resolution:
-Turned the bike completely off and then back on clears the "Transmission Fault". QS works and limp mode gone.

Final Resolution: (Hopefully)
-Checked battery terminals. Both were tight. This DID NOT fix the issue. REMOVED battery and checked busbar connection on positive terminal. See images for what I found.

-Busbar connection was very loose. Screw was bottomed out and still not securing the busbar to the terminal post. Used bolt nothing like the shorter, locking bolts on the two easy to access terminals. I don't know if this random bolt is the correct one, or the dealer was just stupid when they installed the battery. I used the two locking bolts on the terminal posts and the longer bolt on the busbar where depth isn't an issue.
-I have yet to ride since finding this, but the CEL is already gone. I'll be quite surprised if this DOESN'T fix it. What I don't get is how it took 1400 miles before this issue started when that thing has been loose since mile 0...

Anyway, if you get the above errors, checking the battery posts is easy if you live 2 hours away from the nearest dealer.

I literally had the same exact issue and located the exact same bolt attaching the Busbar to the battery. I have since replaced the bolt with a shorter battery specific bolt and all errors have gone away. It seems like the incorrect bolt is a fairing bolt or something. Definitely not the correct bolt for a battery.

Had some a very similar issues with my 2022. I’ve taken possession of the bike in mid august and rode alot to do the break in. The bike was a charm and no issue until 900km. During that last ride i got intermittent « battery system fault » warning. Followed instantly by a « check engine » and bike going into "limp" mode. No transmission fault. The battery fault only popped while riding. While at stand still only the check engine stayed. I decided to check on the battery and found out that the battery omnibus bar was loose. The screw holding it in the positive terminal was too long. After correcting the screws on the battery the «battery system fault » was fixed but the bike was still in "limp" mode. Got the bike to my dealer and they said the check engine and "limp" mode was caused by the exhaust valve servos. They replaced it on warranty but they couldn’t remove the « limp » mode. 🤔 The bike have no error code they said and the tech can’t find what cause the « limp » mode. They spoke with Triumph HQ, made multiples update and reprogramming with no success i’ve been told. Has i am writting, my dealer is waiting for a reply from Triumph about what to do next. I wonder if the loose connection could have made a electrical break in the ECU or something like this???

@Hellbound_ronin Not sure, but I recall reading one or two in the forum having issues with codes that couldn't be cleared at all. I certainly see it being possible that loose electrical connection to the battery could cause an ECU fault. I bet if they replaced the ECU completely the bike would be fine!

I fried the ECU on my GTI by dropping my ratchet well tightening a battery terminal, which bridged the battery to the aluminum chassis of the ECU, lol. That was a sad day that cost me $1700.

@Hiz Triple RR Was it the battery terminal, or something else?

I had the bottomed too long bolt/ not secured pos. battery cable also on 22 RR. No fault codes though as it showed up as dead battery symptom at 225 miles. Luckily the salesman had shown me where to find the tool to unfasten the seat. I checked for loose wires first thing, and was next to a hardware store so I bought a wrench for the battery bolt. I was surprised when it would not tighten, thought maybe it was stripped. Nope! Went back to the hardware store to buy a washer, shaking my head the whole time.

Wow, exact the same issue here. Mine is a Speed Triple 2023 1200 RR. It is 4 months old and 2700 km. Issue started with the battery, then engine, then transmission, then abs/suspension warning. One after the other on my way to work. I turned around and went straight to the dealership, which was close by. On my way there I started getting high temperature warning: coolant was boiling and shooting out from reservoir's expelling tube. I think radiator's fan didn't kick in. I left motorcycle in dealership this afternoon. I was just 10 min away when all this happened. I will talk to them tomorrow and mention this battery connector/bolt issue.

Well, in my case I think the fan did not start, causing the overheating. The dealership was closed yesterday, and is closed today (Monday). My understanding is that the instabilities in the battery connection is impacting the ECU and preventing it from doing its job, with is tell the radiator fan to run. I will reply here when I head from the dealership. 👍

it would be great to diagnose that servo to see if they are reparable for future out of warranty issues. My California Manual states noise control parts only have 1year warranty, while emissions parts are to five years or 18,641 miles. Makes sense why Triumph used a cheap one if it is not covered under emission warranty.
