It's a savage way to test the product, but apparently this company does this test with all their bars.
There is nothing wrong with the 900 platform as is. The frame is very stout. I've beaten the hell out of mine off road for nearly 3 years now. Dropped many times. No issues. After that i think i wil continue with my 1100 atas dct
I did not know that rally was another bar. In brazil the rally version cost double. I am giving up of buying tiger and keepin my hot atasMy bike's in a workshop putting on some upgrades. However these are photos of my mate whose Tiger has Givi bars installed. Givi have 2 models for the Tiger 900s: TN6415 for GTs and TN6418 for Rallies, be sure to pick the correct model for your Tiger. The only difference is where the right bar attached to at the rear bottom mount.
I don't really like T-Rex bars, however their skid plate's great! It's the only skid plate mounted to the frame instead of relying on M6 & M8 holes on the engine oil sump. Some folks on Tiger 900 FB pages have done hard offroading with them for nearly 2 years and they hold up great. I'm waiting for them to arrive, I think some modifications will be needed as the T-Rex skid plate and Givi crash bars share some mounting points, hopefully it's not gonna be too cumbersome.

What about lower oem engine bar? It seems to be a liability as wellAre you going to do any off roading? If not, it's my opinion that tank protection bars are worthless and just added weight. If you go down on the street, there's going to be more damage than just the tank.
Given all the issues with tank protection bars across the brands, they seem to be more of a liability for off-roading on the Tiger 900s. Not a chance I'm putting them back on my bike.
What crash bars do you use? I dropped my friend's tiger very slowly and he charged me for scratches in the tank and fairings, handguard and mirror got scratched as well. I dropped atas and gs 850 a lot and never had any issues. There is nothing wrong with the 900 platform as is. The frame is very stout. I've beaten the hell out of mine off road for nearly 3 years now. The problem is with aftermarket companies bolting "protection" bars to places not designed for added rigidity.
The 900 is an awesome machine and I'd buy another in a heartbeat.
Gs and atas handguards scratches but does not snapThe lower engine protection bars work nicely in low speed drops, but the tank upper bars are very unstable. They are attached to the frame that supports the headlamp from the headstock. Small drops result in rotating this support. Only solution is to drop down the bike on the other side too... Best solution so far are the Barkbusters. The original hand guards snap at the first drop, so you want them. They catch a lot of momentum the upper bars won't.
Well then, nice to have meet you and bye byeI did not know that rally was another bar. In brazil the rally version cost double. I am giving up of buying tiger and keepin my hot atas
i have sw motech upper crash bars on my 900 gt. The other day I threw my leg over the bike, & in a rookie move ( for a 74 y/o ) caught my jeans cuff in the r/h pillion peg. I must have pulled the bike upright at the same time, so momentum was started!I'll try SW-mitch next, it's bolted to the frame. Anyone have input on theirs?
Hi, do your sw motech bars still protect the engine casing, I'm worried about taking the lower oem guards off?I have SW-Motech installed, Several off road drops. One hard. No issues at all other that scratches on the crash bars.
HDB Ultimate Handguards? If so, what are the specs for the top clamp? This is my hand guard setup, the strongest by far and also do a great job at lessening any vibration through the bars.
Do you have these bars DamonYVR? Can't seem to find a lot of info on them, they're website is a bit sparse on info and pictures! But they do look interesting. My take on it at the moment is that for bars that are a bit 'upper' the Puig from Spain look to be the best compromise. Not too high up the bike, cross brace, and do not use theupper engine mounting point. That said, they may or may not be subject to some of the other weaknesses, but of all the bars I've looked at, I think these are the best compromise. Just a guess!
Doesn't look like they do a skid plate either?Do you have these bars DamonYVR? Can't seem to find a lot of info on them, they're website is a bit sparse on info and pictures! But they do look interesting.
