Ive been trying to get my spare ignition key and the fork lock keys from the previous owner. He found one that he thinks might be the fork lock key and says its a German key. Can this possibly be the right one? The lock looks just like the one I've had on all of my BMW's. Thanks!

My steering lock key clearly has the Triumph logo on both sides. However, I never use my lock and wouldn't be too concerned about that key if I were you. The steering lock gets hard to turn, and I've read where some guys have actually broken their keys off in the lock... in the locked position.

German sounds about right. Mine don't have Triumph logos, just the name of the manufacturer on the small round head. It's something that begins with N that I can't quite recall at the moment.

It can be made in Germany. My 07 has Triumph logo. However, when I got a blank key from a local dealer, they had ones with Triumph logo and ones without the logo (=made in Germany). They had to pick one depending on the VIN. If your previous owner can't locate the spare keys, you can get blank keys from the dealer. A locksmith can cut it for you. The blank keys are kinda expensive though. But it doesn't cost a fortune.

It's funny you posted this now. I was about to ask about it too here on the forum.

Since my dealer is new to Triumph, they use a local locksmith. I went directly to him, but he can't get the key! He said they are available on eBay, by one of these 2 key numbers:

ZD7-S1 or
ZD9P-S1

Seems kinda weird if you ask me. Why does it have to be so difficult? I do know that the blanks for the ignition are the same as older Kawasaki's. They did have those in stock.

IDK about your area, but a REALLY good locksmith shouldn't have a problem cutting one should have a blank the key is a pretty standard style, don't waste your time at the key shops at Wally world or the like, the other thing is if you have the little metal tag that came with it the dealer can order that key already cut

I don't know if this was directed at my comment or not, but I thought the same thing. Unfortunately, this locksmith is the one who the dealer uses. He actually is really good. (albeit slightly expensive. But those 2 words are usually synonymous) What stinks is that their policy won't allow them to cut keys that they haven't sold, even if I do find it. But if I find the key, I'm sure there are others that will cut it.

I'm definitely going to hunt down a BMW dealership and ask them. BTW my key does have the Triumph logo, so I'm sure it's what came with the bike.
