i bought a new shock for my 675R. Then sold the bike and got a high mileage 765RS.

I had the rear ohlins rebuilt by ohlins thailand. They said they recommend a rebuild at 40,000km.

my bike had 65,000km on it when i got it. The rear shock failed at 72,000 ( it no adjustments left. Extra crappy ride). It was not leaking.

greatly improved ride.

i have since reached the stock shock limits and have ordered a ktech.

Wow, that oil does not look so good. Are you saying you have reached the limits of the Ohlins shock?

 

i believe i am getting close.

i think if i was able to have a professional company revalve and shim it it could be much better. (I live in thailand. I dont trust anyone to do it correctly. I am not sure ohlins thailand would do it (as well as some of the professional shock rebuilders in the USA) for me. Ohlins thailand rebuilt it for me this last time

from the research i have done, these “ohlins made OEM applications” are not made up to the same quality and performance as many/most of their aftermarket offerings. (More of a budget shock). One person suggested they may not even be made by ohlins but were produced under license. Like all Companies they make a wide range of products to fit there consumer’s applications. I do not believe this is the same quality as their TTX shocks.

I will report back in a couple of weeks when the dds lite arrives.

 

I see. It doesn’t surprise me that a high-end manufacturer of a product would make a sub-par product for the OEM offerings. Kinda sounds like how “Black Friday“ works in a nut shell, in the US.

 

Have heard a lot of good things about Ktech shocks, and know a racer over in England who uses and is winning championships on them, pretty sure you'll be happy with that
Agreed that the stock ohlins is not the same as their aftermarket offerings, but it's still better than most other stock rear shocks.

 

Ok. Shock arrived. I have ridden about 4-500km.

it is simply awesome. I will ride it a bit more and maybe try a few different settings. But for now it seems to be perfect.

the ride harshess I had before is not gone. It is firm yet compliant and predictable.

i am getting better traction and far better control through the rougher sections.

the bike is planted and handles like it is on rails. I wish i had bought this shock right from the beginning.
