Upgraded to LED front turn signals, CF13-GL02 relay installed but intermittent issues

Sorry for the lengthy writeup.
With everything initially connected the turn signals and relay all work as advertised. Once I get on the road the signals no longer blink individually left/right no matter what input I select. When the left or right input is selected, both turn signals turn on like a hazard indicator. Checked fuses and none were blown, but when I turn power back on after checking fuses problem was resolved. Until I hit the road again and the problem returns. Sometimes it will be right away or after 5 minutes on the road. Please help any way you can. I'm wondering if the issue is coming from the actual turnsignal button sending power to both signals instead of just one?

Hi there, I upgraded my oem bulbs on my America to led and the first ones I used did not cause any issues. A year or so later I discovered that an even larger and brighter led bulb was available which would just allow the oem indicator lenses to fit back on top. They looked great as I fitted and tested each one, until the end when you indicated one side the other side would illuminate also, although not quite as brightly, but enough to see and make it look like you had hazard lights on.
To solve this I thought and led light relay would do the trick, it did not. So after plenty of research, I found you could either fit some power reducing relays or what I did, which was far simpler was to remove the small indicator bulb from the tank cluster and problem solved.
The reason this works is because the oem incandescent bulbs would normally only be supplied with enough power to light the side selected and the indicator flasher bulb and that's all. Now because when the led bulbs are fitted, that even though are brighter draw less power, so the surplus finds its way across the indicator flasher bulb, which acts as a go between bridge and thus supplies the remaining small amount of power to the other unselected side led bulbs, thus making them flash also. Hope this helps, Cheers Rizz

Thanks very much, glad you sorted the problem. I was a tad concerned that the missing indicator flashing bulb may be flagged up on my up coming Mot, and was advised that if it can't be seen to be tested, then it can't be seen as a fail. So I did the simplistic thing and coloured it black with a marker pen to make it look like a redundant switch blank. Passed no problem. All the best Rizz
