TuneECU - Service Interval & Reprogramming

I am hoping those with TuneECU experience might share some of your learnings for someone who is vetting this product, and does not have it in hand yet. This is for a 2024 Triumph Tiger Rally Pro, but these are more generic questions.

Can you confirm the ability to reset Service Interval and any struggles to do this?

Reprogramming looks intensive. What is being re-programed exactly? Why do you need to do this?

Really appreciate any knowledge you can share!

If you are just resetting the service interval after doing your own oil change on your bike, it's really straight forward.

You need an Android phone or tablet on which to install TuneECU and a Bluetooth Scanner ($100-120) in combination with the TuneECU software to connect to the ECU on your bike. The scanner that is often recommended is OBDLink LX OBD2. There are other bluetooth scanner brands but I can't speak to whether they work.

There are plenty of videos on YouTube demonstrating how to do it. This is one for Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro:

This tool and software is also used for diagnosing issues and for adjusting the fuel map in the ECU if you were tuning the bike's performance. You will be able to review the fuel maps with this but it is not recommended to make changes unless you know what you are doing.

if your bike is compatible, resetting service is as simple as you can expect - entering a many entry and setting the new interval you want for next. I say "if" because sometimes new models need some time to include some functions if they have important electronic changes to previous ones.

Other maintenance operations you could want to do are ABS bleeding, checking ECM error codes, callibrating throttles, testing sensors...

ECU reprogramming is a different world. For 9 of every 10 users that is something really not needed. And doing it fine would need some advanced knowledge about fuel management.

I just purchased a 2022 TT 1200 GT Explorer.
The service key is flashing on the odometer because a year has passed since the last inspection. I have an OBDII interface and purchased access to TUNEECU 6.2. The application reads the errors because I had one that I deleted, it tests it but, as it does not change the date of the next inspection. The date and time are current because apparently that is also important.
After entering the mileage and date of the next inspection, the following message appears:
An error has occurred during the process
If anyone has any experience or knowledge, I'd like to ask for help.

Is it your reader a verified compatible model, or a cheap unbranded unit?

That is what it uses to happen with such cheap links... they seem to work until they get to a point they do not.

If not the case and using a compatible brand write the developer, that is part of the service we pay with license. :)

I do not know all the list, you should check at tuneecu.net, but do not remember that unit as one of the confirmed (they are very few) I am affraid if it is not one of the listed models... the general answer is "no support if not listed".

And not because being lazy... though OBD2 suppossed to be "one", there are many variations and tuneecu use the link in a very low level way, so many options of something not answering in the right way.

You should move the doubt to tuneecu forum a/o search there, maybe a known limit or issue: https://tuneecu.boards.net/ - but again if reader is not in the list pretty much chances the answers to be "website clearly states if not a compatible reader, no guaranteed working"

There's also been a post on the front page of tuneecu.net that things aren't entirely consistent with Android versions greater than 14.

I'm struggling with it as I bought an approved scanner and the software only to learn that "something" isn't lining up. Can sync software with the ODB reader (ODBLink MX+) but it doesn't read anything from the bike (2022 Rally Pro). Works as expected with other vehicles.

Mostly a heads-up in case someone else wants to be cautious on the investment and possible risk. Exact language below.

Please note that there are currently issues with devices running Android OS version 14 or later. Whether these issues can be resolved remains to be seen.
