Triumph's Daytona Moto2 765 is a masterpiece

“It's also the road-going equivalent of the Moto2 race bikes that tear around on MotoGP's world stage every weekend – powered by the exact same engine – which is right up there as far as bragging rights go.“

Then a few paragraphs later:

“Obviously, it's half a world away from one of the actual race bikes, but that's beside the point. It's got Moto2 stickers all over it and graphics on the TFT dashboard; something no other bike has.”

That’s some hardcore BS writing there, yikes...

I've got to say I was seriously dissapointed by that bike. It's pretty much 3rd gen Daytona with a ST765 engine in it, which is not bad... Until you look at the price tag, for that kind of money you can go get the latest and greatest bikes. I'm not interested on the literbikes, but for that price I'd expect much more. Then there is the fact that it carries over so many components that show Triumph didn't even want to bother homologating a new headlight, tail light and what not; that leaves me with the feeling its a very expensive parts bin special.

About the same hp as my 3rd gen R, looks pretty much the same, its the same frame, similarly outdated electronics... Even if it had been priced slightly above the ST765RS I would not had considered it. I bet that engine has some potential to be released after uncorking it, I bet they didn't want to homologate it as a new engine so they passed it through regulations as just a ST765 with a factory option exhaust. IMHO just not enough effort from Triumph to warrant that asking price.

They sure will become a collectors bike.

The road-going, half a world away, equivalent. :)

and from motorcycle.com (not an exact quote) It's got Brembo M50 with MCS 19-21 master cylinder, braided lines etc but probably won't last on the track because of 310mm front discs where most 200kg, 200+hp, 300km/h litre bikes have 320mm. Really?

and yamminoob... very funny and insightful guy but not where I get my track bike info.

yep it's very expensive. There was one in the shop when I bought the Street Triple... very nice but you can get a lot more for the price.

Met a guy on the weekend at the Old Road Cafe who'd bought the C/F outfitted one. He'd traded his 6 month old ST RS and was happy as larry. He knew it was expensive but 'I just had to have one'. He'd already replaced the stock Arrow with an equally expensive SC project unit that was loud as fook but hey, he was happy so good on him. (y)

And...that's all the really matters. If I had the cash, I'd buy one for just the paint scheme alone. Performance really doesn't matter that much as I'm still trying to eek out the last little 75% of my 2013 Street Triple's potential.

WAY overpriced for what it is... leftover Daytona parts slapped on a Street 765RS.

When I first heard about it I thought it was gonna be a legit road going Moto2 bike.. that'd be awesome, but of course that's too much to ask for :(
If you think it's overpriced for what it is already, imagine what you would think if you had to pay for the built engine and the cost of sending to ExternPro every 300 miles or so to be rebuilt. I don't imagine those purpose built chassis are cheap, either.

i ended up keeping my 2012 675R. a friend of mine bought a Moto2 which i've ridden many times, and also directly back-to-back with my older Daytona. i also have another mate with a 2014 675. the Moto2 is definitely the best of the middleweight Daytona models, but it actually wasn't that much better than my older bike. i expected a much bigger improvement for the money, and almost a decade. i still have the R model and love it..

I have an MT-09 SP, it is ugly as sh** but I guess does not look outdated. I've put in an order for a Street Triple because I want a good track bike with at triple engine. I think it looks good enough, definately better than the MT-09. 😅 I heard the 675 fairings fit on the 765, could be something to look into... I'm hoping the small updates on the new 765 will bring it life and give it more of the 675 feel. But I guess it is hard to make a modern bike with a dated feel. 2023 Triumph Street Triple RS Review | Track Special - YouTube

RBW has meant ability to meet euro5. Early FI bikes were snatchy. My 22 765 fuels so well I daren't put a pipe on as I don't want to upset such a nice throttle response when heeled over in the tight stuff going friggin mental.

I spent many hours on the dyno with a fuel meter on my 675 when I low piped it. Got it pretty damn good for sport riding but still had annoying stumble cruising at a certain speed. The std set up at least on NZ petrol, the 765 22 is an engineering A+ from me.
Unlike the dash, but let's not go there.

Back to original thread topic. I first saw a Daytona in the flesh when I went to pick my 22RS up. It is gorgeous. I said to the salesman in half jest, Straight swap? He laughed. Oh well.
