yes 9/16 and 14mm are close to the same size

 

Let's see, 14 divided by 25.4 =.551. .551/.562, pretty dang close.
Should work. Sears will have the 14 though.

 

FYI, a 15/16 fits better than a 24mm on my '03 Bonnie T-100. The other side is a 19mm and 3/4 will work in a pinch, but is a little looser than I like.

I was in Harbor Freight today. They have a SAE Hex Socket set on sale for $12.99 that includes a 9/16th. I almost bought it, but the set includes 6 or 7 other sizes that I'd proably never use. I'm waiting to hear what you came up with today.

I picked up the 9 pc hex bit socket set. I probably won't need some of them, but it wasn't all that expensive and who knows, some of them will probably come in handy.

Hi Skromfols

When I had my 07 America I used a 12mm 1/2" Allen Head (Hex) socket to remove the front wheel, the axle nut it was very tight.

I don't know if they changed the front axle from 07 to 08.

Hope this doesn't add to the confusion.

The other day they didn't have them, but today Harbor Freight had a 9 piece Metric HEX Socket set on sale for $12.99. The set included a 12mm HEX socket that fits the right side of the axel. Now, with the 5/8" Spark Plug socket, a 5/8" bolt and a couple of nuts, I can do the right side. Ideally the right side needs a 19mm HEX socket which I haven't found, but the jury-rig tool will work fine.

Getting there one tool at a time. I still need a torque wrench that will work in the 8 Nm to 20 Nm range. The best I've found is a 20 to 200 Inch Lbs torque wrench. It will work, but require working out the Inch Lbs to Nm conversions. I'd rather find one in Nm, if possible.

 

Did you get your intiminators installed?

My intiminators arrived yesterday and today I was all set to install them.

How do they work? I'm just waiting for my amsoil to arrive and some thruxton caps and then I'm on it. Interested to hear your opinion on the intiminators. Bob

 

I haven't had the chance to install them yet. Hopefully I'll be able to get it done this weekend.

sorry this old thread; but since this comes up when googling advice on removing triumph america front wheel; i post my cents:
the first gen america (2002-) with spoked chrome front wheel needs 12mm and 19mm hex tools.
apparently tools needed are different in newer models.
