Posted here as there doesn't seem to be a dedicated Sport 800 forum.

I've been looking for crash/drop protection for the new TS800. I'd prefer bars but the only aftermarket solution I can find so far is this:

Has anyone any experience of fitting / using these on either the 660 or 800? If they have could they comment and if poss show a picture of how far they extend? I don't know how much protection they really offer? I haven't found any other form of aftermarket protection yet.

Thanks.

Pete,

I've got TS660, and originally had the OEM frame sliders but wanted something more protective for the fairing, etc. I ended up choosing Motea for my crash bars, and they are working great. Thankfully, I have not had to test them out, yet. But I did manage to mount a Big Ass Cupholder on there, and there are more locations to pop extra lights if I wanted to. The only thing for ME was that the US turn signals on the front were a bit too large for the Motea bars to be fully tightened down. The UK/European model turn signals are what they use for the model-specific pics on their website. So I ordered the evotech turn signals on the front to make it work - not entirely clear on any additional fabrication that the dealership here in Hawaii did to fix it.

I also looked into SW-Motech, which has quality products, IMHO. But for the 660, their crash bars don't connect in the middle. Meaning that they mount on the same spot as the OEM sliders, on each side of the engine, but instead of each side joining somewhere in the middle to connect to each other, it looks more like fingers on each side pointing forward (the pics on their site will show what I mean). But still probably better than just OEM sliders, and I feel they have a clean, minimalistic aesthetic as well.

Interested in seeing what you choose.

Cheers!

Thanks Dean. Like you suggest I'm not altogether convinced the frame sliders will offer the level of protection I'd like and my preference would be crash bars as well. But at the minute I believe the 660 fittings won't fit the new 800. I suspect I'll have to wait it out till some options start to appear...

Cheers

Hello Pete, I am in the market for crash bars Tiger 660 and I found out that TRex Racing, company based in US, is making them for the 800 now (they made the ones for the 660 a bit larger to accomodate the 800). Here is the link.

They seem of good quality, they connect in the middle and have two more connecting points, the same as all others are using.
Safe rides. Federico
