T-REX Racing Frame Slider and Case Guards

Got the T-Rex Racing frame sliders and case guards installed over the Holidays. T-Rex's frame slider designs are some of the best I have found. They typically use two attachment points and a large solid puck, so in the even of an off, they are a lot less likely to bend, shear off, or crack the bike frame they are attached to.

The "half" case guards are only as big as they need to be and allow hot engine cases to "breathe" and cool, unlike other case guard designs.

They also are some of the best looking ones out there. Great pics and thanks for sharing. Hopefully you won't be needing to test them out anytime soon. :)
+1. Feels kinda odd spending good money on stuff you hope you'll never use. Then, of course, sooner or later, you do take a spill, and that's when you wanna kiss - or kick - your own behind, depending on whether you have sliders on the bike or not.

By "you", of course, I mean "me". Yes, I am not above admitting I have done my fair share of crash worthiness testing.

GSG were always 200+ per side in Canada . Too much for too little coverage .

the R&G was the most coverage you could get till T-rex showed up .

IMHO for 05-10 a combo of OES frame and front axle and Trex case and rear axle is the way to go .
For 2011+ A full front to back T-rex set-up would be as good as it gets .

I had the GBRacing case covers on my 675. Had one off on the bike, it landed 1/2 on dirt 1/2 on the curb. No damage except to the $100 GBR stator cover that slid on the curb. If I didn't have it on there, I would have been out a lot more money.

Can you post more pics of the case covers on your bike? The pic you posted is very saturated, and I can't get a good look at it. Thanks.

I'm all for artsy fartsy! It's a great pic. I am 100% crazy when it comes to putting parts on my bike though, and I just want to see more. The pics on the T-Rex site aren't selling it for me, but it does look better on your bike.

I typically like understated mods that look OEM and blend as much as possible. For some reason the covers seem to "pop" in the photos on their site. The R&G cases look "ok", but I'm still not convinced either way.

I came across this. I'd consider getting them without the logo and in BLACK.

Look like aluminum, which IMHO is not really the best choice of material for sliders. It doesn't absorb impact as well as the better plastics used by T-Rex, R&G, Woods, etc. By that, I means aluminum deforms (bends) too easily and doesn't have much elastic deformation (the kind that restores back to original shape) before plastic deformation (the kind that stay permanently deformed).

Plus it doesn't "slide" as well as plastic, so the dragging parts are more likely to have to soak up more energy - either heating up from the friction and the metal going "soft", or sending the bike tumbling. Plastics will likely slide and scrub off the energy by abrading itself. This is why I like the T-Rex frame slider so much. That is one big solid chunk of plastic that'll be sacrificing itself for my S3.

I hear you there. They are aluminum indeed, and like I said, I've put plastic engine cases to the test. GBR doesn't make cases for the 1050, but they have a great kit for the 675. Long grain fiberglass/plastic. It did a fantastic job.

I'm still months away from a decision. Just looking at the options. I do like that the T-Rex is open, and lets the cases release a little heat.

It's made by Ermax. I bought it off ebay from a guy that had spray painted with a stone finish, probably one of those rattlecan textured spray paint you can buy at Lowes or HD. For the price, I figure if I couldn't stand it, I can always sand it off and repaint it properly, and still come out way cheaper than the OEM flyscreen.

I have to say I kinda like it now. We'll see how it stands in the long run.

My experience with the Speed (my friends 2011 new body) is that at 80mph the wind buffeting is turned on like a light switch. I didn't have a flyscreen on my Street Triple and didn't remember the buffeting to be so dramatic. I haven't ridden my new Speed over 40mph, so I can't comment yet on that.

It's also very user specific. Because of body shape, some people say that the flyscreen helps, some say it makes buffeting worse. Some say there's no difference. Glad yours does what you want it to!

I don't suppose you could pull one out an measure it for me ?
They have got to be M6 x (?)

I emailed them late Friday about the error , but really it will be easier for everyone to just get my own . They are sending me a new base for my rear crush drive cover , the one I got was made incorrectly and cut too thin on one side . After sending photos of the part they sent out a replacement base right away .

Pulled one from the stator side... I remembered wrong, it's the same 50mm long. They are button head stainless bolts. Same dia as stock obviously, so M6?

BTW, post some pics of the cush driver cover when you are done. I didn't get a set the last time, but thinking about it for the second order.
