Stator options for Street Triple in 2021. Is RM stator any good?

Hey folks,

My stator had issues so I got a new one from RMstator after doing some research. I received the stator and it is not what I expected! It looks exactly the same as $50 Ebay China stators. RM stator is also made in China. So is it just a marked up Ebay cheap thing??? They are definitely not made in Canada. I am not even sure if I want to put it in.

So, is RM stator junk? Are there any other alternatives to a $$$$ OEM? I know there is a Ricks stator, but there seems to be a lot of negative feedback also.

Was the stator damaged on your project bike that had been low sided?

What is it about the RM stator that is of concern?

Care to post a pic?

This is 2013 Streeple. It was lowsided a few years ago, but ran OK on short rides I used it for. Then it started having that famous "not starting up when is hot" issue. As I mentioned, RM stator I received looks exactly the same as those Chinese $50 Ebay stators. The windings are quite thin, they are not covered with any protective isolation, like OEM or Ricks stator for example, and the whole quality does not really impress me. Some spots actually look like dings in isolation. Plus "Made in China" stamp made me think it is just the same thing as cheapo stators on Ebay. So, why spending $140 on something that costs $45? Then I did some reading and stumbled upon some bad posts about the quality of Rm stators. I might be overthinking it, but I don't want to get stranded again after 100 miles with cheapo starter taking a boom on me. There is nothing special in those stators, and I can probably rewind one by myself, had I had time and good copper wire, but this stator looks like it was quickly built by a poor Chinese dude who has to make like a hundred of them a day. ))

Here is a pic. As you can see, some bracket pieces already fell off once I unpackaged it.

And here is a $40 Ebay stator. I don't see any difference.

I understand your concern:
1. Windings are not uniformly tight wound.
2. The windings have not been dipped (and baked) in varnish after winding.

This can lead to turn to turn vibration, which may rub until an interwinding short occurs.
