Barely touch kill switch and it kills it.. and then service required then it goes away.

Quickshifter also has issues. Did factory reset so will see after work if it helped.
Yep, that's a triumph thing with those switches. My bikes got 10k klms on it and the only thing that's needed looking at is the switch, it would also cut out at high rpm. Rang dealer and they've seen it before on other models not just speedy.

Glad you told me. Mine died the other day at high rpm. Figured it was the switch but wasn't sure.

Ok, now I’m getting a bit cheesed-off. Had to take the bike in today as the keyless filler cap wouldn’t shut. Apparently I’ve been doing it all wrong by opening and shutting the filler cap with the ignition off (why would you keep the ignition on to fill up with E10???) and whilst at the dealership, getting it fixed under warranty, noticed the front indicators were full of water… All sorted and replaced without a bat of an eyelid, but now have had all the switchgear on left handlebar replaced due to water ingress, indicators replaced due to water ingress (I don’t jet-wash BTW) and a poor process to simply open the filler cap led to a replacement lock, all in 2 months. They suggested I fork out for the Triumph extended warranty and that seems sensible, but Jesus wept, I shouldn’t have to.

I never open and close the filler cap with the ignition on and haven't had any problems. It is quite difficult to close though--I have to push down with a lot of force on the heel of my hand, but it always locks in place.

I haven't had mine out in the rain yet, but you have me worried. Is there something different about the replacement switchgear and turn signals that will now keep the water out?

Yeah, it doesn’t make sense but I was pulled aside by a Triumph mechanic after it was fixed and he said “I know this seems at odds with common sense, and yes, it’s not in the handbook, but keep the ignition on, not necessarily primed” or words to that matter. Also feel like I’ve given myself arthritis in my thumbs trying to press the filler cap home… glad it’s not just me, thought I was becoming a wuss 😂😂

Nothing different about the switchgear but the previous one ended up with the joystick having a life of its own and would scroll through the menus and sub-menus on its own accord, almost like it was possessed. Seems all of the issues are based upon poor workmanship/build quality at the factory

I took possession of my Speedy a couple of weeks back.
The shop fitted the recall heatshield and it’s booked in for the QShifter.
But honestly it works like butter. So smooth so I’m hesitant to take it in to get replaced under the service bulletin.
I’m mean if it’s not broke why change it unless it has potential to stop working or the SB is an upgrade?

cheers

Let's not discuss whether one should have recalls and service operations executed. It's a clear "yes".
Your dealer really has a strange way of working. The Triumph Shift Assist (TSA) shift force sensor replacement (service bulletin 602) was published on January 31, 2023. You got the bike a few weeks ago and the parts are still not there?

Arghhhhhhh, I spoke too soon…
Haven’t ridden her in a few days and this morning, started her up and quickshifter isn’t working. Phoned the dealer and they’re taking her in next Wednesday. I’ve factory reset the bike, now it shows overdue service (It’s 2000 miles of 10,000 mile service).
Bike is still under warranty, so hopefully it’s just another bug in the already buggy electronics.

I spoke to the lead tech at a local dealer about the various recalls. He was actually warning me about the shift detent one. Apparently it is to address the difficulty finding neutral issue. It is a new ball and stiffer spring, so end result is stiffer shifter that requires more effort and will cause more wear to quickshifter. My bike shifts nicely and i would rather have a little difficulty finding neutral than get false neutrals when you want to shift through 1st-2nd. Passing on that one. Im going to wait on the quick shifter also so i get the new part after i get some more use out of the original that has never failed.

Why would more effort cause more wear on the QS? All the QS does is tell the engine to cut/blip throttle. I haven't noticed any changes after having it done. Only now that you mention it I think N is a little easier to find from 2nd.

i guess it is like pushing a button unnecessarily hard🤷🏼‍♂️. Does your bike require more boot effort to shift now or does it feel about the same?

Feels about the same. Enough that I didn't notice it after I left the dealer and rode 2 hours home. I was messing with the shifter in the garage just now and it might be louder now? Can definitely hear a detent moving against something quite clearly.

I had them plug in bike and I'm pretty sure they did a firmware update since the radiator fan turns on after shutting the engine off for a few seconds.

Rear roller bearings decided to take a permanent holiday on Wednesday night, whilst riding at motorway speeds… (2 significant skid marks were created 😬😂😫)
After a 6 hour recovery from The AA, my (excellent) dealership Carl Rosners picked her up from home, yesterday. After a full replacement of rear eccentric hub assembly, rear brakes, indicators and everything else that took the brunt of exploding hot steel, she’s ready to be picked up tomorrow morning. I urge all 1200 RS/RR owners to check wheel bearings, regularly, it was gnarly. Thankfully all done under warranty.

That is super sketchy! So glad did not crash. How many miles are on it? Did the dealer give a cause of failure?

That hub design is awesome till it's not. MV August had hub failure which I caught right before implosion. In my case though it was becoming a known problem and Design Corse reached out to a parts supplier of Bugatti and now I have the hub that should have come on the bike.)
That must have been terrifying, I hate the loss of control "I hate electronics for this" Glad your in one peace!
