I've been looking around online for a good manual for my 2019 Scrambler XC, but there are free ones and ones you have to pay for. A couple of the free ones, despite being 640 pages long, didn't seem to cover the rear wheel / brake assembly and removal which is what I'm about to do at 10k miles. (Although I didn't read every page I admit) So has anyone found a specific shop manual for the XC ? The Haynes one claims to cover the 2019 XC but does it really?
And anyway is the rear brake pad change as awkward as the Thruxton?

Thanks guys

Hi!

I have the service manual for the XE from TriTun. If you just need to change the brake pads, the process is trivial:

1. Push the caliper towards the bike to push in the pistons and make removal a little easier.
2. Remove the R-Clips from the retaining pin and note their orientation.
3. Take out the pin with a punch, a screwdriver or something similar.
4. Take out the pads.
5. Reassemble in reverse order. Put a small amount of copper grease on the retaining pin to keep it from binding.

No caliper or rear wheel removal required. If you want to take off the caliper, it gets a little more complicated as the rear wheel speed sensor is mounted to the caliper assembly. I can look up the relevant pages if you need information on that.

Thanks guys, very helpful. I only need to clean and check the pads just now, so it sounds dead easy . Well used to doing my own servicing after over 50 years at it! I'll probably buy the Haynes manual too for other jobs in the future but will also check out the TriTun one as I've never come across them. Bike will be hiding in the shed till March I guess, -4 C here tonight with snow showers and lots of salt on the roads. Brrrr!
