RHS switchgear alternatives..?

Gents,

I am having to replace my switchgear and due to the nature of my electrics, do not require any of the electrical functions the RHS supplies. My question is what alternatives do I have? Any good aftermarket systems available? Also need to get a longer master cylinder braided brake hose that connects to the top of the headtube - can anyone recommend a supplier?

Also cannot get my exhaust to fully sit against the head without there being some movement - ie it leaks. Can anyone come up with any solutions? Am getting some 'popping' when riding, I suspect due to this.

Many thanks.

Eddy..

so what do you need on the LHS?

There are various aftermarket handlebar switches, from the all in one jap style (similar to my T140E) through to classic style main/dip.

Your exaust could ba anything but if you have a spigot in there it may be loose

Hi Dave,

The bike is a T140E.

The LHS gear is the original type, so something similar looking would suffice. I would rather have a good front brake than something cosmetically pleasing. Can you please direct me to a website with the items?

The exhaust is baffling me a little. I have in the past been used to screwing the exhaust clamps into the head (on Japanese bikes) so have had no issues - no such thing with these bikes! I am told I need to use sealant, but I am not convinced this will work. Are there any good kits out there to do the job?

many thanks...

My '72 T120 has push in exhausts with too much clearance. My bike will also backfire when coming off medium to high throttle. The pipes are well secured to the frame to minimize movement but she will still pull in air sometimes and ignite any unspent fuel when the throttle's dumped. Would definitely welcome any suggestions here as well...

if you have the black switch gear like my bike, it acts as the carrier for the front brake cylinder. It's also the throttle.

I recently bought a replacement RH switch s/h on ebay for about ÂŁ30, as my original screw threads were stripped and I'll refurb and swap them. A whole new one is about ÂŁ80

If you're after a cleaner look, you could grind and fill the standard RH assembly to remove the switches, but be symmetrical

I have made up stainless brake lines before and it's quite easy but if you ask, most brit bike dealers can make a line for you at whatever length you wish. My most recent lines are goodrige and were supplied by the T140 shop who also made me a special to run straight into the underslung rear caliper.

I have standard US bars

OK. thanks for info on brake lines. Actually, the threads
have also 'gone' on my RHS switchgear, which is why I
am looking for other options since I do not have any
electrics running from that side either.

How about the exhaust fitting? What options do I have?
It sounds terrible when running and like I said, produces
some popping when rolling off the power. Most annoying.

Anyone any answers?

eddyfiola,

The PO had fitted the kit that Dave M has highlighted.

Don't know how easy it is to fit, but it sure works really well. I have a non-coupled exhaust system, so was able to fit finned clamps over the top of the collars.
