Quad Lock - iPhone issues?

I've just brought a Quad Lock for my Bonnie, and my pal has told me to buy the vibration dampener as they can kill your phone's camera.
I've ordered it, but I'm now worried as I've read a few articles on this.

Anyone else has iPhone issues when using a quad lock, or does the dampener fix the problem?
I've got an iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The photo is pre-dampener.

I just bought one myself, and spent the extra $20 for the dampener. I was worried that it would make the phone stick up too high, but its not too bad. It has good reviews and seems to have corrected the broken camera issues, but I can't verify that first hand. $20 is cheap insurance for a $1000+ phone!

Check this out, looks like they had an issue even with the vibration dampener. Quad lock vibration dampener still broke my iphone camera

In the end, I paid for the vibration dampener (and the wireless charger) - just didn't want to risk my phone.
It does stick up a bit more than I expected, but its ok.

I've done over 300 miles with it without problems to the phone and the charger works perfectly.

I don't really use it for a satnav function, or cameras. its mainly for music control (nice to have something low level in the background on long rides).

I normally put a sat nav app called 'scenic' on as I've uploaded a speed camera database into it and it gives me a good warning. It also has large button controls over my playlist (handy when changing songs at the traffic lights).

I'll keep you all posted if any issue crop up.

I’m been using the quad lock w/ a wireless charger & the dampener for about a month. No problems so far, but I’ll post an update if I get the camera issue. ‘00 Sprint ST, ball mounted to the bars w/ the m8 kit. iPhone 12 Pro Max.

I found the standard bracket to be a bit high, and off center, so I used a tap and die to thread a bot hole in the handlebar mount.
Now sits perfect and looks better when I’m off the bike.
Phone holder is superb and no problems after 3,000 miles.

I have iPhone 11 and am going into the Apple store tomorrow to have the camera replaced due to the stability issue that occurs from vibrations. Counting the the original camera in the phone when I purchased it, this will be the 5th camera in my phone. I ride a 2020 Triumph Speed Twin. I've used 4 mounts and all of them have created the "shaking" camera focus problem. I've used self-made mount, Lifeproof case/mount, X-Ram mount, and finally the Quad Lock with dampener. Had to replace camera with each mount. The quad lock actually lasted only 250 miles before the new camera broke again. All street riding. Thankfully I have the highest level of warranty on the iPhone avoiding the $80/per camera replacement cost. I had the iPhone 11 on my prior bike ... Kawasaki Vulcan S/650cc with no issues after thousands of miles. I'm somewhat convinced it's the engine size/torque on the Speed Twin that is just too harsh for the iPhone. I guess you cant have both, great iPhone camera and use the iPhone for navigation on the bike. So ... I'm having the camera replaced for the last time ... and going to a Garmin Zumo XT ($500). I figure the cost savings will be not having to spend hours in the Apple store. There are so many variables here ... bikes, riding styles, phones, and mounts. I just want to stick with my Speed Twin and iPhone ... which means I'm going to have a Garmin on my bike from here on. Good luck in your pursuit for the best nav/phone/music device configuration on your bike ... and be safe/enjoy the ride!

I have an iPhone 13 and purchased the QuadLock mount with the additional vibration dampener. It still destroyed the camera. QuadLock customer service was absolutely useless, you'll get footed with the entire bill to repair your phone. They'll just refund you for the cost of their mount. Some people seem to have luck. I think it depends on the bike and its vibrations, but I'm personally not willing to take the risk with my new bike. Phone goes in my pocket.
