Fellas - I swapped out the lollipop/Micky Mouse Ears for the Ovals. Although they do look really good I can see little more then my elbows!

So off they come. I am now thinking about the Black Napoleon Bar End Mirrors. So I have some questions:
* Any of you guys have them on?
* Do they bolt onto the stock handlebars?
* How is the rear view vision?
* Do they sit out to far from the handlebars -I do a lot of lane splitting in rush hour.
* Where did you buy yours from - or where is the best deal?

I found these at a reasonable price but I'm not sure if they are the same ones that, like NewBonneville sells, thus, I'm not sure if they are compatible with the 2007 Bonne's

Thx for any input - John :)

Many posts on this, Hedge. Never had them but they sure look good. I know all have said the can be attached to 1" bars, perhaps with a bit of modification. I have also read that they vibrate a bit [?? think I read that]. But a lot of guys like them, and they go up and inward, so they probably won't affect you lane splitting much. Now the CRG's are really good too........

Those are 7/8" - Aren't the stock bars 1"?

I traded a few emails with Brent at NewBonneville and I think that the Napoleons won't fit the stock bars as is because of the bar ends. You'd have to modify the mirrors a bit from what I understand. If you get any bars from NB though, I think you can get them with the bar ends and the Napoleons will fit in. Planning on getting the Black "M" bars and black Napoleons myself this winter...

Good Question!

BonnieRob had a good question fellas -

I haven't thought about that so I don't know but I'm positive it will play an important role in whether the mirrors fit or not. As far as vibrations I have heard that the CRG LS vibrate a lot as well - if they didn't they would already be on my bike! Overture can weigh in on the CRG LS - he has them and he told me if he had to do it all over again he would have went with the Napoleon Bar End's

I've had the Napoleons for about a year and I love 'em! I wouldn't trade them for any aftermarket mirror. They're bigger than most bar ends and have convex (or is it concave) glass and you can see a ton! I can see the curb on the right side of the road with my left mirror!

No, they wont fit stock handlebars unless you drill/tap the welded in threads in the ends of the handlebars, but they will fit any 1'' bar that doesn't have the threads in it.

I have M bars w/ the Napoleons and the look is great, really "ACE".

I got mine from Newbonneville, but they're available all over, my dealer even carries them. I have the black ones, the quality is good and they are tough! My bike fell over in an enclosed trailer, one tie down failed, and the bike was leaning up against the plywood wall of the trailer for probably 300 miles. The bar end mirror is all that was in contact thank goodness, but it shows no damage!

Thumbs up from me!

Thx Sweat - I value all of your input whenever I see it! What if I used these -

Would they work on the stock bars with the NewBonneville Mirrors?

Those are just the mounting "internals" for the Napoleans. If you're hot to use the barend mirrors you'll need to get new bars that don't have the threaded plugs, or as Sweat said, drill the plugs out of your stock bars.

I have a pair of black Napoleans. Rode with 'em once. For me, they make lanesplitting a chore. Now they're just sitting on a shelf.

Sorry Dawg - I seem to remember your low sliding thread - that sux! Hope you get your bike back up and road ready soon!
Bonnie is up and running. $118 buck for a new shift lever-I said no thanks and fixed her up with a big ol' metal screw and duct tape to make the toe piece more round. Works fine. I'll be getting rearsets anyway.

I just dropped my wheels off to have Sport Demons mounted which I ordered before my splatter.

When I first purchased my Napoleons, I had my son's the Busa brothers drill out the plugs in the stock bars, what a pain in the a$$. It took about an hour with good drill bits. Then I had another set of bars powder coated and decided not to drill them out. Instead I went to Home Depot and purchased for less than $1.50, 4 M5-.80X50 Hex Cap Screws Class 8.8. Replaced the screws that came with the mirrors. Had to cut some of the rubber to make them fit. I took me a total of 5 minutes to install both mirrors:)

Putting the Napoleons on stock handlebars was a breeze. I went to a hardware store that specializes in fasteners and they were able to order longer M5 bolts that work perfectly with the threaded insert inside the bars. The trickiest part was trimming the rubber dampener that fits inside, and that wasn't tricky at all. If I had more time I would have preferred to drill/tap the insert in the handlebars to fit the bolt that comes with the mirrors.

Napoleons on Stock bars

I have napoleons on M Bars on my Black, and figured I'd futz around and try and mount them on my stock bars, I went to the hardware store, and got a 3" long screw that fits in the bar end plug mounting hole, got a few washers and rubber spacers, and it works! ( I dont remember the size of the screw, but I just brought the orginal one and matched it up to the new longer one.

Holds up well, minor vibration, need to tighten them up frequently, but otherwise fine. I actually ordered another set of (used) Naps so i can have them on both. Stock bars still don't look quite right to my eye compared to the cool aftermarket ones available, but I really like the riding position, and the bar ends look much better. I'll snap some photos this weekend for those interested .

Ok - this is getting confusing!

OldManJob – I see what you bought but I have no idea what you did. I don’t understand what replacing the mirror screws have to do with getting the bar end into the handlebars. Can you please elaborate?

PoopSniff – It seems that all you did was get some longer M5 bolts and it threaded through the Napoleons and into the stock handlebar?

Capoanj – your instructions seem to be the easiest -it seems like all you did was unscrew the screws at the end of the bars bring them to the hardware store, get longer screws and replace them with the new Napoleons?

Yes, that's correct. You need to take the rubber insert off the napoleons, get a few lock washers that fit the no 10- 32 x 3" machine screws, and that's it. Here are the photos:

I took to home Depot the end cap screws that came with the bike. Home Depot did not have longer screws to match but had M5-.80X50 Hex Cap Screws Class 8.8 that matched the threads of the end cap screws (you use a socket instead of a screwdriver). Replaced the screws that came with the mirrors. The screw that comes with the mirror fits through the end of the mirror, then through a piece of rubber with a nut on the other end. When you tighten the screw the rubber squeezes together and will hold the mirror tightly in a hollow bar. But the standard bar has the plug in it in order to screw the end cap on.
So what I did was to cut the rubber plug to fit in the space between the plug in the bar and the end which the mirror would rest against. I put the new hex screw with a small washer through the end of the mirror and through the plug and screwed it into the threaded hole in the plug and tightened till there was a snug fit. Adjusted the mirrors and then tightened snug. If my wife charges the batteries in the camera I will take pictures of the proceedure:)

Clear-Cut Directions!

OldMan - now that is what I call Crystal Clear-Cut Directions. It totally makes sense! That is probably the way I will try these mirrors out. Even at $31.99 a mirror x 2 = lets just say $64 + maybe $5 at Home Depot + S&H at maybe $10 we are talking about a $79 experiment. I think I have pissed more then that away on other vices! :D

I just got a pair of Napoleons in the mail yesterday from newbonneville.com. I originally tried the "knock off" mirrors for half the price. What a bad move that was. Quality is sub-par, and I knocked one mirror loose, and it totally screwed up the the mounting hardware inside the bar.

I haven't put the new ones on yet, but they should be ace!

Hedge you will only spend about $1.50 at Home Depot, use the rest of the 5 bucks to buy a cold one;)

I've got Napoleons and a Bella Corse Western bar on my T100. I tried the Halcyons and while they are beautifully constructed, they angle out too much for my taste. The Napoleons will increase your width, but not as much as the Halcyons, and they are a bit less expensive. The main thing I like about using bar ends versus standard stalked mirrors is the openness in front. I didn't realize until I removed the stalked mirrors how much they intruded into my vision. I want to be able to get a good view to the rear and side when I glance at the mirrors, but now that I've switched to a bar end style, I really appreciate uncluttered view up front--and that's in addition to a much sleeker profile.

Thumbs up!

Capoanj - thx for the pix! It finishes off your installation explanation perfectly. I was at Brit Jam 2007 today and several Bonneville's there had the Napoleon mirrors on them - some up like yours and others flipped them down. I'm sold and will try them out. I will post some awesome pix of the event tomorrow for all to see. :)

Jersy

Your in Jersey - unless your down at the bottom near Del, it isn't far. I would say it took me 1 hour and 15 min to get there from Stamford so we/re talking 2 - 2 1/2 from NYC so add your distance from there - maybe you will need to spend the night in our guest room next year. :) Pictures will be posted tomorrow for all to see.

Stock Bars

Brumos, they are the stock Bonnie Bars. The riding position fits me perfectly. I also have a Bonnie Black with M- bars and Napoleons. Looks good, more aggressive position, but not as comfortable for me over an hour or so. Just my experience.

Napoleans flipped down!

Fellas - here is a piture of the Naploeans flipped down. I saw this at Brit Jam 2007 on Sunday. I have a little under 100 pix to put up - I will post them later as soon as I resize them all so as not to piss off Sean. :)
