I've decided to no longer participate on this forum. I won't go into the details, except to say that the banning of Nickwiz was the last straw for me. It's not my intention to enter into any debate or discussion about this, as it will only get this thread deleted early, & I'd like it to stay alive long enough for people to read it. I'm only posting this thread to say goodbye to the friends I've made here, & so they don't worry about my absence (a constant fear on a motorbike forum). Good luck everyone, & safe riding.
Old Scratcher has left the building.

is one of them the melting point of lead in a vacuum?

theres very few people that've ever been on this forum that I'd have thought "good riddence" about let alone say it and Scratch, theres no way you'd fall in either category.

It's a shame you're going, more of a shame than nickwiz in a way since theres a hope he'll come back after the ban.

It would be good if you did reconsider at some point, the greater the ratio of the unoffendable to easily offended the better.

Because Nickwiz was a quality contributor I can understand why you are deciding to leave.

Thanks for the support & good wishes everyone. I'm both surprised & pleased that there's not one "good riddance" post :D. I may change my mind about leaving, I'll have to think about it some more. I'd never be so presumptuous to make any conditions for my return. But I would like to see more openness & fairness in the banning process. With maybe an appeals system, where other members can offer support (or criticism) to the member on the chopping block.
Anyway, I'll keep an eye on developments with an open mind. & hopefully, I'll be back soon.

This is an interesting idea. My background leads me instinctively see banning as a personal matter, not to be discussed with the membership at large. So this is a very new way of looking at it to me. We certainly can't turn it into a democratic process, but I can see some merit in discussing your ideas among the mods and beyond, OS. Thanks for giving us the chance.

Well Old Scratch, I hope you don't go. I really don't see any reason to ban anyone, except for perhaps the most egregious behavior such as cheating another member. I like this forum and I am open to all opinions and nearly all behavior. No idea why Nick was banned. GRRRR.
