Handguards, anyone remove 'em for summer?

Is it pretty straightforward/simple? Never having had handguards, I'm wondering if they make your hands get hot because they're limiting the airflow to them and if so, do people remove them in summer and put them back on for the cooler weather?

Thanks!

I leave mine on as well (but I don't have the standard ones). But the bolts (lever pivots) still work without the handguards - they just leave the boss projecting. I keep meaning to get some new ones as my guards don't use the pivot bolts but am always forgetting.

I took mine off. I'm just doing commuting as of late, and it's not like they are any help with the weather around here. That, and the right one was pretty scratched up when I got the bike. I'd love to eventually find some reasonably priced GS 1150 guards or some cool aftermarket alternative one of these days.

I was just thinking of doing that for the summer. I picked up a pair or Revit Jerez gloves with ventilation in the fingers and have noticed what a huge difference in the temps of my hands between the Bonnie or Brutale (nakeds) vs. the Tiger with the stock handguards. They're easy to take off.

They may need to be adjusted differently & two words: "heated grips" :D
