Fuel filter change.

I searched for information on the EFI in-tank filter for my Bonneville. The Triumph part is $57 from Bike Bandit. My research says the Mahle KL 145 is a direct replacement for 1/3 price. I tried crossing the Mahle number with most of the other filer manufacturers but didn't come up with a match. However I will be happy to pay $17 for the Mahle filter, it is std on some BMW's and Ducati's. Beside the sites my search turned up seem to think the Triumph part is made by Mahle. What I need to know is if any of you have changed the in-tank filter? How big a project is it and are any other parts required?

Don't be tempted to use a pattern filter in a plastic casing, these have been known to bulge and burst with the pressure in there (43 psi). Use only metal-cased filters.

Mine's not due for replacement yet but I might get myself some spare connecting hoses just in case they have deteriorated.

Hoses are part number T3620094. There's two of them.

I have had the opportunity to change two fuel filters recently (one Scrambler and Bonneville T100 - Mine still fits a little). The filter Mahle you found is exactly like OEM and is a good brand that has spent decades dedicated to auto parts.

Installation is very simple, and does not usually need any special tools for replacement(Sockets and clamp pliers mainly). By having the tank so accessible is a good opportunity to check for any water inside (if any will see a drop in fuel). With a syringe and hose you'll get out of there.

Forchetto: Do not worry about horres, the two I've had a chance to see were in perfect working condition.
