Daytona 675R 2013 with a turbo

Hi all,

so I know this has been done before, both supercharged and turbocharged

So it should not be impossible- just close to.

Why do this to a 675cc engine? Why not just get a liter bike?

  • I am dumb
  • I find it fun to make things produce more power than they were meant to

My current plan is to us this summer to get the parts ready and plan out the build. Then spend the winter assembling and tuning it.
I am not the best fabricator in the world but have friends and family willing to help and who know their way around a car - and have some bike experience.

My first idea was to basically copy one of the builds above; Rotrex C15-60 supercharger.
Then I got to wondering if a turbocharger would be easier.
So currently I have not yet decided; the supercharger would "steal" some power from the engine to drive the charger.. While the turbocharger will suffer from some lag.

So far I've gotten my hands on a PowerCommander V, and my research points to that the 675R 2013+ ECU cannot be flashed since the encryption in place hasn't been cracked yet
(We can thank Keihin and ESCRYPT for that).

Going to take the bike and take some measurements for ordering some custom JE pistons.

Also looked into getting another clutch, which will be needed, but MTC hasn't responded to my email yet- asked for help regarding which clutch to order and fitment of it.

Why am I posting here?
Well, this is a hobby project with a bit of "plan, learn, re-plan, execute" mentality.
Any tips and input on what needs to be done, how to do certain things, and what to look out for would be greatly appreciated.

Turbo and supercharge? I'm trying to understand how that works. As far as dumb, riding a Daytona in the first place is not what conventionally smart people do, so I wouldn't call doing what you are doing dumb. Fun, for sure.

I'd even go further and say that it includes every other Triumph ever made but hey, we all can't drive some boring Honda Transalp BMW GS and just get where we were supposed to go, where's the excitement in that? 😂 And about that turbo nonsense? Go for it, it's so rewarding to see someone with GSXR 1000 or something boil his brains 'cause he couldn't keep up in the twisties but lose on the straight too 🤣
