Hi all,

I have kinks in my chain so I need to replace it. I was looking on the internet and saw that the best suggested site was sprocketcenter.com. Now that I understand the 2017-18' SS needs 520 size, 102 link, Front Sprocket 17 Teeth, Rear Sprocket 41 Teeth it's down to selection. However, as a relative newb I don't totally understand the difference in "quality" of the offered chains and was wondering if someone could help–

See this image, I have the DID 520ERV7 - GOLD Race X'Ring (1000cc rated) selected, looks cool, it's apparently for racing(?) and it's gold, which is what I am looking for. But is +$75.

Now see this image, I have BikeMaster 520 BXMR - GOLD X'ring (1000cc Rated) selected. It's only +$21.

Should I go for the one that's cheaper, or more expensive? I don't really "race" my bike and I can't really tell what the difference is between these two chains necessarily. Really I just want a quality gold chain that works the best/longest for the bike. Thoughts? Suggestions? Any insight appreciated!

Thanks,

This is what the Triumph Manual said for street scrambler specs:

So they do use a DID chain. From what I've seen it's about the same pricing wise. The dealer I bought my bike from isn't Triumph only, so I wanted to know what options and prices I have before I go in and get sold on whatever inventory they have. I don't want to wind up with something quoted higher just because I wanted gold.

I would get the D.I.D. $75. Is a reasonable price believe me and the brand quality is very good for your needs and it should b better then the bikemaster chain For $21. that cheap price scares me to believe it will wear, stretch and kink fast and u will have to get another one quicker then u think and cost again, so spend right the first time If possible.
my 525 black and gold chain for my TTR $150......FTG

Fly-tri-guy, that sprocket/chain combo is looking sick! I called the dealership as well and they literally can't even get a rear sprocket in black with the right fitment, so yeah, between your insight and that, I am going with the sprocketcenter.com order. What's the saying? Pay nice, not twice? Hope the Superlite Rear and JT Front sprockets are quality!

check the specs as chain strengths vary. i replaced the OE 525 with as good or better 520 EK chain using their screw link new sprockets as well of course as i regeared my over geared 18 T120. forget the exact chain part but it was a stronger black + gold chain. OE chains are supplied by whoever to a price point like most OE parts, good enough but not better as they are buying for a LOT of bikes. i bought from the sprocket center, good service.
