I have a weird problem I haven't been able to find in my haynes manual.
1. I put the key in, turn it to on.
The lights turn on, gauges do their check, fuel pump makes the usual noise.
2. I make sure the kill switch is on and press the starter.
There's a small click, and the lights and everything simply turn off.
What makes it weird:
If I leave it for like 20 minutes with the key at "on" the lights come back on by themselves.
If I turn off the key, and plug in my battery optimizer, there's seems to be a series of long beeps from the rectifier.
If I turn the key off and back on, the lights remain off unless I leave the key in the "on" position for about 10 minutes or so.
This happened once before, and after simply turning off twice, the third time it started up no problem. The bike normally runs great, starts fine.
I've made a few mods to my bike, including a remap from Triumph Twin Power, but I've done no cutting of the electrics. Regarding the electrical system, I removed the O2 sensors and AI system and covered the plugs with electrical tape to keep water/dirt out. I also removed the what I believe to be the charcoal canister as it got crushed when I lowered the rear swing arm.
Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
tl;dr: put in key, press starter, there's a click and all the lights turn off.
