Hi All,
Not as disastrous as the oil pump balls-up but annoying nonetheless.
Had three new Wassell '79-on "Girling" clutch levers through my hands recently, all have the same problem - the pivot hole's been drilled in the wrong place in the lever casting.
I've attached photos. of an original '79-on Triumph lever, one of it in an original Lucas switch cluster.
The problem is whoever made the Wassell levers drilled the pivot hole in the wrong place
- centre 1/16" too close to the "step" in the lever and to the centre of the cable nipple hole, so 1/16" too far from the edge of the lever around the pivot hole.
The extra material between the lever pivot hole and the edge of the lever prevents the lever pivot hole aligning with the pivot hole in the switch cluster; even if that extra material's filed off, that the pivot hole is too close to the "step" also prevents the lever pivot hole aligning with the pivot hole in the switch cluster ...
Hth at least '79-on owners.
Regards,
