New guy observations.

Only one person likes the Tune ECU map?

TTP is the greatest, not one disgruntled customer and a bargain at $125 - $150 US?

Hmmmm

Tune 12 is for no airbox (assumed since you're using 11 now) and shorty mufflers.
I would say the same, I'm by no means an expert I just followed the list of mods on the TTP website n picked the appropriate one for short free flowing silencers.

You'll love the Lossa's, although I found them too loud and bought the DB Dawgs which make them perfect for me, doesn't sound like a Harley anymore, cool but grating after a while. They're quiet enough at idle with a little rumble but what a sound when u crack it open :D

DB Dawgs are a bugger to fit though, I lost both of them off the bike at separate times, luckily I got them again a bit battered so I've since fitted them with high temp silicone, I would advise that on first fitting and let them cure for a few days as the little screws just don't cut it and are the most irritating PITA to tighten.

I will chime in here i have no experience with the ttp map and of course am interested in getting it mainly because of my concern over proper fueling and safe engine operation. That said i have Predators, AI removal, disconnected O2 sensors, and ARK on my 13' thruxton and remapped using Tune ECU 20498. thruxon airbox. Tune ECU is such an awesome tool to have for my bike i cannot say enough about how happy i am to have access to this and will most certainly will donate to the website as it is invaluable.

Based on simply riding the machine I can tell you this. The bike starts better than stock. The bike idles pretty darn smoothly. It does stumble occasionally but that may have been there as stock just amplified now by my wonderful exhaust note. The bike accelerates very well. The increase in torque and horsepower is very apparent expessially at higher revs. The power comes on and it pulls hard all the way to redline as long as you are on the gas I can feel no flat spots. The only issue i have had is running along at low rpm the bike feels a bit dodgy. doesn't run poorly by any means but there is some surging and slight unevenness about the ride in 3rd gear around 3000 rpm i am going about 40 mph. So cruising isn't as smooth as i would like it to be. Strangely enough on the highway it feels spot on and very powerful. As i said before where as before the mods/remap the bike felt like it would creep up in rpm as i gave it throttle It now charges forward and you feel the power come on like a hot rod. Will the TTP map be even better? I don't know i will likely find out as even though I am pretty happy with the 20498 tune it seems slightly off in the low rpms and my mind is a curious one.

New to this in some ways....

I have an SCT programmer for my Merc. I bought it with a custom program for my car. Plug-n-play.

I have a brand new Bonneville and just put on TOR mufflers. I had the dealer download the TOR tune...but I'm not sure it made any difference...which leads me to believe they didn't do it.

I only put on the TOR mufflers because I wanted that sound. I don't plan on doing any other mods (airbox, etc.) I blocked off the AI system and there is no backfiring.

The bike still feels lean under 3k rpm. I still get great gas mileage (48-52mpg.) The throttle response is still a bit jerky (on/off) even when not completely closing the throttle.

With tuneecu, is there a way to balance the throttle bodies, or old fashioned vacuum gauges good enough?

Please advise as to whether or not the tuneecu and TTP maps would be a worthwhile investment to get better driveability.

TuneECU has an easy-to-operate throttle body balancing function. Takes just minutes to carry out. Much easier than messing about with vacuum gauges.

Connect-up, start engine, click on "TESTS", tweak the balance screw until the two combined analogue/digital gauges at the top left of the screen read about the same:

I have loaded the Tune#1 from TTP via their software, all seems good.

However, the TTP map install software is very basic. I ran the TuneECU software for more options and it comes up "No MAP".

My question is when you download and install the TTP map via the TTP software, should it be able to be seen in the Tune ECU or is it somehow protected from displaying?

Thanks for any help.

Good question! I too am looking at several options for a tune. From what you observed, I'd say it's blocked.

I hooked up TuneEcu and found that I already have map 20507 installed. I have not yet disabled/removed the o2 sensors, but I have plugged the AI. Will this tune be sufficient once I disable/remove the o2 sensors?

I'm also interested in this last question. I am planning to buy a ttp map, but have just grown comfortable with TuneECU. Do people with ttp maps continue to use TuneECU? does the TTP computer program work just as well?

Hi Forchetto
Is this procedure for the EFI T100?? or Carb Bonnies?
And if so do the EFI models have a balance screw if not is the procedure done through the software??
Cheers Klem.

nbig; TTP tunes come with their own software to load the programme initially; TuneECU has more features and is useful for a variety of other functions. So, yes, TuneECU is still the 'go to' option if your comfortable with it. Mine sees the TTP tune so maybe you have a computer error?

klem; TuneECU is for EFI only and you still manually balance the 'carbs' with a single screw but TuneECU will provide an accurate vacuum reading so you don't need vacuum gauges.

Thanks. Based on what I've read, the TTP tunes are top notch and I'm looking forward to buying one. In an age of downloading music for "free" I'm impressed that these tunes have not been shared...

Probably because Mike/Pieman/TTP is often on the forum and is probably seen as 'one of us'. The price was a big deal to me too, but as an unknown, amateur tune could easily destroy your engine I thought it was the safest solution; and it works.

although no software like TuneECU is available for the VW Audi family a downloaded tune is $500, the newest models are $700 a pop from APR!!! sure you have more to loose as you could buy a new bonnie for its cost, but a TTP tune is a fair price. you can't get a fuel tuner for its cost!!! beside fueling revised timing really makes a difference!!!

I was a bit apprehensive at first when wanting to change my fuel map because it's a $7000 paper weight if something bad happens. But I poked around on this forum and read many many testimonies and then went for it. Remember to have all the mods the tune is written for done first. The TTP breathe really helps. After all was done my bike is so very pleasing to ride that it's hard to stay at the speed limit. It purrs like a lion at 80 mph and just a tad more throttle you are at the ton. Starts perfect and runs great in the heat. I've been riding daily to work and around here been 95-104° F (35-40° C) and still ran great. No regrets and I highly recommend it.

Are there any websites listing free maps?
I can't seem to find one for my set up, it's a 2012 Bonneville SE with the SAI removed ,O2 Sensors deactivated and stock exhausts. The majority of ones I find are for aftermarket exhausts or additional mods.

Also I've read somewhere that if you deactivate the O2 sensors you need to take them out or else they get damaged, what is it that damages them and why doesn't it happen if they're turned on? I tried the adaptation procedure recently and it made a real difference to the engine so I'd like to keep them in if possible so I have the option of doing that again if needed.

You can take your map and change it for your current setup. You un-check the boxes for SAI and O2 using tune ecu save the map on your laptop/pc and then load it over the one in it now. Just name the file something you will recognize as having made changes. It's pretty simple really

Is that all? Sounds so easy even I couldn't mess it up!
Cheers : )
