At those prices, Triumph should sell every one they build.

The accessories don't include heated grips, something offered on their other bikes. And Triumph isn't showing an available center-stand. Unfortunate because the swing-arm isn't drilled for spools.

 

just making a rough guess but With import and all the other fees it will probably b another $1,800. - $2,000. Added to the retail price out the door so looking around $8,000.-$8,500. On the Scrammy and $7,000.-$7,500. on the Speed…FTG

 

I spoke with a couple of dealers not too long ago about pricing and each told me Triumph charges $625 per bike for destination. One dealer quoted $200 prep fee and $500!!!!! documentation fee. The other quoted $300 prep and $100 doc fee. S.C. sales taxes for vehicles max out at $300. ergo a scrambler would be $6620 speed $6020
I would want the heated grips I'm guessing 300 to 400.
I would like a center stand but that doesn't seem like a possibility nor spools.
I will be looking long and hard at the scrambler.

 

I was going to purchase a new Triumph in 2014 but the dealer wanted at least $1,100 in fees. That was more than any other brand. I bought a Kawasaki instead. Maybe those have changed. I don't mind freight and a fair setup fee, but doc fees are a ripoff.

 

The $625 is Triumph's fee. The doc and prep fees I'm fairly certain are determined by the dealer. When I heard $500 doc fee I knew immediately where I wouldn't be buying a bike.

 

It will be interesting to see what the price is at dealerships. I'm surprised at the limited reviews on the bikes. I thought they were in circulation in some parts of the world already. Are any US dealers doing pre-orders? Also, where will these bikes be located in the forum?

 

I don't mind a setup fee if the dealer does a proper PDI (pre delivery servcie) but all they seem to do is bolt on the bars, mirrors, front wheel, check the oil, and some dealers install a charging pigtail.

I don't pay "document fees". I tell the dealer if you want the sale I want the title or MCO, a bill of sale, and I go to MVD myself.

 

It's easy here in the UK. 4,995 and 5,595 pounds on the road.

 

I'm sure there will be the usual "market adjustment" added to these new 400s when they first hit the showrooms. Hopefully once the "I gotta have it now" fever breaks things should settle down.

I just bought 400x it was $7,000 plus sales tax. (tax depends on your state)

 

I bought a 400X and I paid OTD $6956 and that included $320 SC sales tax and license fees.

 

Did you pay sales tax on the bike price only? Surely you don't pay taxes on Setup, Freight and Doc Fees. I bought mine out of my home state of ky and not pay the taxes of 6% yet. (cash deal) I'll pay them Monday when I register the bike. Just curious.

 

I'm sure it varies by state but sometime in the not too distant past SC started charging sales tax on set up & freight along with the purchase price. No tax on documentation.

 

Just bought mine 2 days ago and here is the cost breakdown. Bike $4995/freight$530/dealer fee $299 wrote check for $5824 and since I bought out of state gonna owe Florida ~$375, so all in for ~$6200. If that helps. This dealer usually doesn't charge freight but the dealer cost on this bike is very close to retail, has to charge the $530 freight, all and all dealer is making ~$500 on deal, not ~$2000 plus that Powersport Dealers are demanding. BTW insurance is $180/yr full coverage (69 yr old). I'm happy with the price, dealership, and proximity to my winter residence--all that really matters.
