Sounds like your bearings are to tight. I recall the process is to tighten to 35ftlb and then back it off and retighten to 15ft/lb. When I did mine I didn't have the tool and tightened the nut with pliers (not the right way) till I felt drag on the forks then backed it off till it moved super free. Then I installed the washer and lock nut, tightened that tight tight tight so it wouldn't back off. Worked like a charm.

Double check that the ignition lock isn't hitting as well. Mine looked like it was clearing but upon further review it was barely hitting. Just a hair, but enough to drag and make it a bit twitchy

I'm wondering also if you powder coated over the gold, and if so why? that is such a beautiful set up to cover. But to each there own I suppose.

Congrats on the swap (don't let it get stolen though, or you'll be bumming)
I only had fork legs powdercoated (not sure if that's the right term) those black pieces that calipers are bolted to. Along with the lower triple clamp. Left the gold colored pieces the way they were, this color has really grown on me.
Still need to tap holes in the frame for the stoppers. Will retighten the bearings later in a day by following a TL/bus manual to see if that fixes the twitchiness.

Redid the bearings, this time followed the busa manual - tightened to 32.5 lb/ft, turned the bars few times from lock tolock, backed out 3/8 of a turn ( manual says between 1/2 and 1/4 of a turn), tested, put a special washer and tightened the second nut to 58 lb/ft.
While doing that found out that convertibars vertical barsare toching those black plastic panels just a hair and repositioned the convertibars clamps.
Went for a ride and wow! Twitchiness was gone and progressivly increasing pressure onthe bars, that confidence inspiring feedback is there again.
Now I need to figure out what to do with a sidestand and a centerstand. It looks like the bike can tip over if someone sneezes on it. Putting the bike on a centerstand requires herculian effort.
For now I'm going to use a 2x2x4 piece of wood under the front tire that helps a lot. Any suggestions?
I will try to take pics on Sunday

So, you do have the manual. What happened, did you just mistakenly overlook the headstock bearing procedure?
I read somewhere On the web that all balls tapered bearings should be tightened to 35. Guess that was wrong
I was in the "I'm almost there and who needs a f$@# manual" mood and rushed things.
Lessons learned

best lessons learned are the ones learned the hard way. Glad she's riding like she's supposed to.

As for the side stand, I noticed mine coulda been a wee shorter. This page there is a post from OnD as to how to shorten that. It won't fall over though, or it shouldn't.

Beg to differ. Best lessons learned the hard way may be dangerous or expensive.

The best lessons learned are when you acknowledge proven expert advice and try to learn from that. And then, recognize where your sudden knowledge came from. :D

I agree.

Wow, nicely done! Did you have the bottom fork legs powder coated? The wrinkle-black finish looks good.

Yes, I had both fork legs and lower triple coated. Happened to visit my coating guy and he was doing lots of parts in Harley wrinkled black so I brought him the pieces. Cost a fraction of what it normally would since he had that paint already paid for by the other guy. It really looks great in person.

Added a few new bits to my usd fork project.
cycle cat top clamp
frame sliders
busa fork legs with race tec springs and seals
carbon fiber fender
angel st tires
and a set of pazzo levers coming for dads day for me!:D
Cheers, Maury

I finally got an opportunity to put the sprintabusa setup to the test. We went for a thousand mile 3 day ride on the Virginia's Skyline Drive, Blue Ridge Parkway and a blast throgh west Virginia Monongahela forest and mountains. Bike felt so flickable in the twisties and rock solid on a slab like a Daytona on steroids.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the people who blazed the trail and inspired me - decosse, OnD, dclarson and many others. I managed todo it only because I was standing on the shoulders of giants!

So, I'm ready too! :)

Now I have fitting my Busa fork to the Sprint. I take also the cycle cat top clamp. The fender is carbon and comes from GSG-Mototech. I let it colored. The handle bar is from ABM (Multiclip).

At the projekt time, I opend my headlamp from the front. Now the inner mask is also carbon look. And: both lights (right and left) are from a ZXR 1400

Thanks to DeCosse, Zoran and Carl for informations and the needed parts for the USD conversation!

greets from Germany
