Hi all,

Pre-unit T120

I'm fitting new Hepolite +40 pistons/rings to my rebored barrel.

Got them from ebay, they don't give an origin of manufacture on the box, so I guess they're made outside the UK.

My question concerns the 2 compression rings on each piston.

One has a dot to indicate the upper face, this one has an INTERNAL chamfer on the upper inside edge that sits in the groove.

The other has no markings and can be fitted either way.

They were supplied all wrapped together, so I need to know, does the ring with internal chamfer go in the top or second groove?

Many thanks,
Dave

Dots face up.Internal chamfers usually face upward for the top ring, and downward for the 2nd ring.
You could safely say the one with the dot is the top ring.
Unmarked rings can normally be fitted in any direction.

Go to "Technical Tips & Tricks".There is a sticky about fitting and bedding piston rings.
