Anyone have some good recommendations for a replacement bulb? The stock one seemed a bit dim and burnt out fast (replaced after about 12 months)... Or maybe motorcycle bulbs just don't last that long. Any recommendations would help. I just want to replace the existing bulb, so no LED or anything else that requires electrical upgrades, etc.

Thanks!

I've got a 2017 T120 Black

... Also considering changing to the street twin bucket.
The headlight buckets (shells) and bezels are the same on the T120 and Street twin. The Street Twin's headlamp is far superior on high beam, probably because the reflector is not broken up by the US/Canada/Japan spec T120 parking light. I installed a Street Twin headlamp on my T120 and it works great. You also lose a couple of pounds since the Street Twin headlamp does not have the unneeded heavy heat sink of the T120. You also free up considerable room inside of the shell. It's a 10 minute switch. Be careful with the parking lamp connector as it's very delicate.

I use these: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Pecham-H4-120W-9600lm-LED-Car-Headlight-Bulbs-Philips-Led-Chips-6500K-Auto-Led-Headlamp-DRL/32804576428.html
They are much brighter than the crappy stock bulbs, and are sold badged under a different name in the US for $170. The dipped works properly (unlike many) and the braid lets you cool them properly.
I've had mine for about 18 months now, and I ride every day, so they seem to be lasting nicely. Plus... you get a spare one when you buy them :)

The photos at the top of the advert are the H4 version with dipped beam. These ones were rated second best on the YouTube shootout by some American guy. Can't remember the brand name he used, but they are the same ones.

Am I assuming correctly that this bulb works in the TTR as well?

My last H4 (anti-vibration) PIAA bulb lasted eight years. I broke it dry a clumsy moment when swapping it out into another bike. Its replacement PIAA was cheaper but there again it wasn’t their motorcycle specific bulb.

Well, due to this thread, I finally got off my procrastinating duff and changed it. I don't ride much at night so it's really not a big deal to me.
I pulled out the old one and it has a big bubble on the glass. I used latex gloves to change it last time, so it wasn't from my skin's oil. Maybe it was sweat as it was really hot out the last time I changed it too.
I wiped this one off with a fresh microfiber towel. If there was anything on it that didn't come off, hopefully, it spread it around enough so as not to draw undue heat to any particular location.

Motodemic LED headlight conversion

So.... I tried another halogen, and it was a little better but still dim. I then pulled the trigger on a Motodemic LED conversion headlight: https://motodemic.com/shop/led-headlight-for-triumph-bonneville-t100-t120-2016/

It is not cheap... But it is a huge improvement. I ride at night a lot and this has been god-send.

I've had it for a while but, oddly enough, I have no head-on pics of the bike to share. I'll snap a few and post some soon.

I replaced the whole headlamp assembly. This LED headlight from Lumen works great. I had to create a headlight gasket to get it to fit proper. It was slightly smaller then the headlight bezel. I am happy with the end result. The headlight only cost 80bucks.

When mine went out at about 5K miles I just replaced it with the best HP4 I could find. The real solution for me to get better lighting was to add a set of Denali accessory lights. With the two I can set one further down the road (about 1,000'), and the other to the right side a bit. They are tied into my existing headlight and when on bright they are blinding!
During the day I ride with the brights on as it makes me far more visible and instances of people cutting me off or cutting in front of me have been reduced by about 80% since they can easily see me coming. A bit pricey for sure, but less expensive than the LED replacement headlamps and worth every penny and more for greater visibility at night for me, and to others drivers both day and night.
