I haven't seen any myself, other than the tail bag and a tank bag, but hopefully someone will advertise something soon.

Very sorry to hear about your Daytona, by the way. I saw the picture of it in its glory days in the Daytona forum, and that was a really classy machine!

 

I'd be wary of side paniers given that they'll be mounted close to those silencers but Triumph did show me a brochure with 2 sizes of tank bag so that might be enough if you couple it with the tail pack. Of course a "low boy" style exhaust would enable you to fit one of several aftermarket tail packs / panniers combinations without any worries.

You need to think outside the box. Mount your tail bag and mount your throw-over soft panniers ON TOP of the tail pack. Or Just get a phuquing big bag to go on the rear seat and rear cowling length ways. Ortlieb do an 85 litre waterproof bag. You don't need side bags.

Thanks Diego. She'll be impossible to replace. I am hoping that Triumph has something else in the line up that I can get. I am thinking I'll use the Bonneville for the longer distance riding since its wheel base and tire sizes lend itself better to that type of riding. I like the Street Triple because it has all the right stuff for a really fun bike and if the Triumph tail bag and tank bag are available for it, that should be enough for weekenders and rainsuit. You are right, Jon, because I see nothing for the Speed Triple either. I'm calling the dealer today.

I bought the Triumph magnetic tank bag as it fits almost everything and just got an Oxford tail bag. Now all I need is the bike. Going in to put the order in!!

 

Which tank bag did you get the small or large ? Do you think with the large one full it will be too high for comfort ?

 

I got the small one and it opens up well. It is great on my Bonneville and is very well made. I think it should be very adaptable to the Street as you can move it around a bit on the tank for optimum positioning.

 

Back To Luggage

Now that some of us have had our bikes for a while, I am looking for a bit of advice on luggage that works with the Striple. Hope some of you may have had some experience? I am a touring virgin, only ever had a topbox before which is not an option on my new bike. I am going for a long weekend away later in the year, will probably take the majority of my stuff in a rucksack, but will also need either a tailpack and/or a tank bag. I will be leading a group so need a place for a map too (tankbag? Mapbag?) It all needs to be idiot proof (and I'll say it, girl-proof) I am already going to be apprehensive about getting the bike on and off a ferry, riding on unfamiliar roads and I don't want to have to worry about my gear. What have people used on their striples and what works please?

 

I don't have my Striple yet, but I did a little research on tank bags and found a few nice options from Marsee. Using the Corona mount for Triumphs, it mounts to the gas cap area and doesn't touch the paint of the tank. I'll be picking one up when my Striple comes in.

Hmm, I haven't got mine yet either, but am hoping that the French mob Bagster, will produce a tank cover and bag combo for the striple.

I've used the Bagster stuff on my last three bikes and have been very happy with it.

I am also waiting on the Ventura rack being available. Again, I've had their racks on my last four bikes, all fitted perfectly and worked well.

My striple will be replacing a Honda Hornet, and, it required that you pack stuff over the tank first, then lighter stuff on the rear rack, otherwise it wanted to wheelie too much.

I expect the striple to be much the same in this respect.

For weekend runs I intend to use Triumph's 20-30ltr tank bag and their tail bag as well. Should work just fine for short trips if you pack right (make that light). Between a tank bag, tail bag and a rucksack you should do just fine. the key is in what you take, or better still what you leave behind. An old touring trick is to take worn out clothing, underclothes and t-shirts. As you finish wearing them at days end, or whenever just chuck them. The longer you're gone the lighter you get.

 

I am using GIVI T417 rear bag , it works pretty well. By the way Shakey, I travel the same way you explain, giving my apparel a 1-way ticket and my fiends laugh on me, they say I have four mark undys

This also suggests the inevitable topic associated with luggage - touring.
What sort of reports do any of you have, re: long distance riding - comfort, long stretches on the highway, long days in the saddle wherever, etc.
In an e-mail today, my local dealer says three Streets are due at his shop soon.
Since I am still waiting to even sit on the Striple - I'd love to hear details about jaunts over 200 miles or so.

 

Haven't had the weather to take a 200+ mile trip on her. I'll post impressions if and when conditions get warmer and dry up enough to do it. I generally use my Guzzi for the long runs though (400+ miles).

 

For those who have their Street Triple and a tailbag, how do you mount it? Do you run straps under the seat or are there mounting points where straps or bungees can be attached?

With mine I used the bungee points on the rear pegs and one around the bag and anchored it on the numberplate hanger thingy.Rock solid and never moved

I know, I had to put mine back on and I've got the Arrow 3-1 system, it looks weird and crap but needs must!. With the underseat cans gone the pegs take literally 2 mins to refit, I'll post a pick later!

think i'm going to go for the Kreiga US-20 as it straps to the seat, maybe the official Triumph one depending on how much stuff I want to take.

How does it strap to the seat?. Does it have thingys that go under the seat?

i have the 10 litre & it is great, very secure and completely waterproof.

 

Here's a couple of pics with pegs and tailpack attached, it didn't move at all, tested upto 110mph..so far. That Krieaga stuff looks good and if it's totally waterproof that's a bonus.It does look weird with the pegs back on.

I can vouch for the waterproof qualities of Kreiga tailpacks, having been caught in three of those tropical downpours we had last year for several hours at a time. The rain soaked through my goretex gloves and left them sodden, leaked into my goretex boots, defeated my waterproof Rukka (so it had to go back to the factory), but not a single drop got into the Kreiga.

They should work ok on the Street3, but I can't properly tell until I get the bike and work out exactly what stuff I'll be taking with me on the trip.

 

I think I might have to get a US20 as that means I can ditch the pegs again and get a tail tidy, I'll let you know if and when i get it and how it goes on the street.

 

Well, I've ordered myself a Kriega 20+10+10 tailpack, and when that arrives I'll see if i need a tankbag too. Thanks for all your input-the waterproofness thing clinched it for me really, as i don't have to worry about raincovers etc. I'll try and post a pic when it arrives and I have sussed out how to fit it!

 

Installation is pretty simple on a lift up seat. It was a bugger on my Sprint when I had to unbolt the seat every time.

I'd be really interested to hear how much you can get in 20+10+10, as i have a 10 and am going to get a 20 too but am not sure if its enough for a week's trip (even if I travel light) once I pack a pair of shoes and some emergency tools as well the usual stuff.
