I really like the sound of the stock exhausts with the cat, it's just right. I don't mind going a little louder, but not much.

So without going much louder, what options are out there for good looking smaller or shorter exhausts for the speed twin? When it comes to the cat/x-pipe, I don't mind keeping it stock with the cat if it helps to not increase the noise that much. I'm just looking for a more modern look than OEM.

If you keep the cat, are slash cut tips obnoxiously loud?

Funny that I should see this post right now, I am presently waiting for the FedEx truck to deliver a pair of British Customs Predator Pro mufflers for my '24 Speed Twin. Should be here within 2-3 hours and I'll install them today. Not looking for loud either, cat will remain in place. I've also installed a DNA air filter with the goal of freer breathing all around.

Not a Speed Twin, but I've had a pair of hitchcox short drag pipes on my Speedmaster for the last 2 years: i liked the look and the sound with the cat in place is a nice balance. It did pop and bang a bit on over-run. Initially i removed the cat and used a tec x-pipe but the sound was too brutal (think machine gun loud).

Ive always yearned to run the bike without the cat, as it seems to run stupid- hot, so ive very recently swapped over to a pair of Motone Bedlams, which look as good as the hitchcox to my eye (though about a foot longer) but have internal baffles.
I fitted them along with my x-pipe and I'm very happy with the sound level now.
There's still a little popping on over-run and the pipes are very acceptable on minimal throttle openings, but crack it open and they come to life.
I've also got the DNA air filters fitted but to be honest didn't notice any difference (induction noise or performance) with them over oem.

If the sound is anything like the T120 , then the decat was an absolute great idea , a just right increase in sound when on the throttle and nobody notices you when just cruising around !

I'm not looking for anything louder though. It's the looks I want to change.

These are the British Customs Predator Pro exhausts, for reference. With db killers, somewhat louder than stock. Without db killers, significantly louder than stock.
They look good, but are not really smaller or shorter than stock, which is what I'm looking for.

I have a 2022 1200 speed twin, and ordered aftermarket mufflers for it. When I pulled the stock ones off, I noticed they were a straight through design. I took out the decibel killers and replaced the cat with a free spirits X pipe. The noice level is slightly louder than stock, but sounds very good. I’m perfectly happy with the results. I don’t see any reason to replace the stock mufflers when aftermarkets don’t flow any better, and don’t weigh significantly less.

Yes, but my whole post is about changing the looks and not the sound. You've done the opposite, which is great and all, but doesn't really help answer my question.

From what I can see, I need some sort of short slip on like SC, Zard, Hitchcox et al, but I'm not sure what sounds good.

Hi everyone, just picked up my 2020 Speed Twin, an awesome bike! It's running Arrows decat race headers with the stock end cans, and this system sounds pretty good. However, I want to add some aftermarket slip-ons and bring more noise!

Can I get some recommendations of what would work please?

Thanks

Piggy backing on this thread too! I have a '22 Speed Twin 1200 and I'm waffling between the BC slash cut tips and the Cone shorty.

The BC slash tips
are a big weight savings, which I like because I'm adding saddle bags. Plus it makes it easier to service the chain and adjust suspension, latter of which I know I'll want to upgrade later anyway. The tips are way cheaper as well.

But the Cone Shorty is a more engineered slip on exhaust with what I assume to be a more pleasing sound, with still some weight savings and easement to the suspension.

Neither of which will do much for performance. That's fine, but I'm just wondering if I'll regret not going with the cones. Any input is welcome!
