SE exhaust options

So I have come across a 2012 Bonneville SE for a pretty good price. However the exhaust is horrible. Been looking around but most systems don’t list the SE as an option or it says “not available for mag wheel bikes. I thought other than the wheels and a few bits they were the same as a standard Bonnie. Same motor, frame and mounting points. Why such limited options? Specifically I was looking at reverse cone shorties. I may pass on the bike if the aftermarket support is lacking for this model.

I’m not really wanting to go the universal route and I haven’t pulled the trigger on the bike yet. I was just hoping there might be some other options out there for the SE. Google hasn’t really helped as each one I find either doesn’t list the SE or it says in the fine print “not available for mag wheel bikes” it’s frustrating because I don’t see any difference other than the wheels. Motor, frame and pretty much everything else is the same.

Tec have a few different full systems that fit the SE and other bonneville models, so guessing the SE exhaust is no different to other models
I was thinking the same thing. I had found the ones I like from both Lossa and Cone engineering but they state they are not available for mag wheels. I may try and contact them to find out what the difference is and what prevents them from mounting up. If all else fails Tec is an option

My go to exhaust is HD sportster pipes, if you can make the connections and mounting work. I've used them on multiple vintage Hondas (which matched sizes exactly) and a Triumph Adventurer (which needed adapters). Never tried them on Bonnie.

Some examples below

So I did a little more digging and it seems the headers are different between the SE and the regular Bonnie. Could I not just swap out the headers to open myself up to more options? Or just get a full system? Still not sure if the rear mag wheel has anything to do with clearance issues. Waiting to message Lossa to ask on Monday. Someone here has had to have done something similar.

I've bought the British customs slip-ons for the Bonneville SE, and later the TEC header system that I assumed fit both standard and my SE. it didn't. the mount was funky and aimed the muffler in a weird direction. I ultimately kept the TEC header and blended the BC Predators into them with a set of 1.5" build your own pipes for a Yamaha 650. It was a pita, but ended up with kind of a cool, unique system. Very much disliked the sound the TEC muffler emitted. Motorcycle equivalent of a Nissan 370Z lol.
If I was to do it over again I'd just keep the factoy head pipes with the British Customs slip-ons. Nice tone and they fit the SE perfectly.

I've tried both the Norman Hyde Toga's and the Peashooters on my 2011 se. Of the two the Toga's are my favourite both from the look and sound and are the ones I've currently go fitted. Not a cheap option but worth the money in my opinion.

At first I ran the peashooters and Toga’s with the standard map but with AI and O2 removed and they ran fine but there was still a small degree of jerky throttle at some throttle positions But not as much as when the bike was standard ( with The out of the factory setup it was shocking at low throttle)I then removed the air box baffle and fitted the the DNA air filter, Breath bell mouth and Tune 3 from TTP and it ran like a different bike. I did the mods slowly over a few years but ultimately I wish I’d have done the mods all at once.
