More photos from Extraterrestrial Highway ride
There is water in the fenced off pool to the left of this building, but it is green. Outflow is about 85-90 F. Cattle drink from the outflow which flows to a ditch.
Salisbury Summit is higher than Warm Springs Summit, at over 6500 feet.

Was hoping for a 2 day ride, Thu-Fri, to Bryce Canyon, but high percentage probability of precipitation, including areas of heavy rain have dampened/postponed that plan.

This wild horse was about 4 miles south of Redstone, along North Shore Road in the Lake Mead recreational area. One very good reason to not be at maximum lean angle on a blind curve!

This is Redstone

Unfortunately the NPS recently poisoned the palm trees around Rogers Spring because they are not native to the area.

Saw a couple more wild horses on the way back. Top photo with the bike has the horses in the background. Bottom photo is zoomed in.

65 + MPG on the way up.

Redstone looks better in the afternoon sun and when sky is clear

Occasionally a wild burro walks along the highway. This is intersection of Lee Canyon Road (highway 156) and Deer Creek Road (highway 158), ~8,000 feet elevation. Have very much enjoyed the past 3 months on the Street Twin. There does not seem to be much interest in this thread, so this is probably my last post in it; but thanks to Back2-2 for starting it.

There is so very much to see around here. I am working on a 600 mile day, today:

Las Vegas to Bryce Canyon National Park via Utah highway 14, then through Zion National Park. Presently in St George where it's 110° F.

Dart Marlin.
Also worked well on my 2016 Moto Guzzi V7 II and 2014 Honda CB1100.

Poker run Saturday 9/11/21 out of Zion HD in St. George. I am sure the route will be in some beautiful places. I'll be there by 0945 with my Street Twin.
Utah highway 14 had signs indicating the canyon would be closed this Saturday for an event. Did not indicate what.

Heading to central Arizona, tomorrow, to visit youngest daughter, son-in-law and 3 of our 14 grandkids.
Originally planned to go today, but yesterday/last night/this morning's storm brought rain and wind gusts of 55 MPH+ and snow to Flagstaff (also snow to Spring Mountains, west of Las Vegas), but roads appear clear on traffic cams and a warming trend is forecast through beginning of next week.
Going over highway 89A (Mingus Mountain) is forecast for 45 F at 5,000 feet elevation, but summit is 7,000, so probably close to 40 F mid-afternoon.

Glad I am not traveling to Jacob Lake!

Plan to post photos

North Rim typically opens mid-May. Hope to go there next June.

Great view from Point Imperial, although September 2020 had smoke from California fires.

How do u like the ryker, is it fun in the curves and twisty’s at all…FTG
Phenomenal cornering, especially after replacing stock shocks with 400 MM shocks. It was a lot of fun, but avoiding potholes with a triple track is very difficult.

However, had there been snow, ice, slush on 89A yesterday over Mingus Mountain, it would have been a good choice for a ride. No photos from that section of the trip, as the distance from the white line to the guardrail is only a few inches, so pulling over for a photo op is not wise.

Although rear wheel traction is not the best. Burnouts are possible / likely even at 35 mph.

The point imperial photo was taken at the north rim of the Grand Canyon on a 1115 mile ride.

The longer I have this Triumph the more pleased I am with it. Right now there is nothing I would want to have as a replacement.

Wednesday's ride to Clarkdale (287 miles) was good weather.
Coming back today, Fri 15 Oct, via Oak Creek Canyon (highway 89A) and Flagstaff, was chilly in the shadows of the canyon and cold approaching Flagstaff (7K feet elevation). Below photos of Oak Creek Canyon:

Today's (Thu 21 Oct) ride to Mount Charleston was pleasant.

Kinda humorous to see remarks about the Triumph and all we see is a 3 wheeler :) . Joking aside , you might
want to ride (drive ?) that Can-Am in Quebec , drive through there last Sept and that was almost all you saw on
the highways . Peter

Completed an almost 700 mile ride over the weekend to ride on some of the roads I had always wanted before moving out of the New England area.

Day 1 (Oct 23, 2021)
  1. Headed west across Massachusetts along Rt 2 and the Mohawk Trail
  2. Turned south and went up and down Mt. Greylock and then continued west on Rt 2 into New York
  3. Turned north on NY 22 and headed towards Bennington, VT and the Molly Stark Trail
  4. Rode east along the Molly Stark Trail and turned north onto VT 100 in Wilmington, VT
  5. Rode north all the way to Killington to stay for the night. Stopped the ride earlier than planned due to the plummeting temperatures.

Day 2 (Oct 24, 2021)
  1. Woke up to freezing temperatures and frost on the bike
  2. Headed north along VT 100 and stopped for breakfast at the "The Original General Store" in Pittsfield, VT. Apart from the excellent coffee, food and service, they also have some locally made jams as well (Try the Gingered Rhubarb).
  3. Turned west, rode along VT 73 and turned north onto VT 53 followed by Upper Plains road to join VT 125. Parts of Upper Plains road were not paved, but the Street Twin didn't have any issues with the packed dirt and light gravel.
  4. Headed east on VT 125 to join VT 100 and proceeded north again to turn west onto Mill Brook Rd/VT 17. This road has some good elevation changes and tight turns and is a lot of fun!
  5. Turned north on this road to get to Cambridge, VT through Huntington, VT and Underhill, VT
  6. Turned south on VT 108 through Smuggler's Notch to Stowe, VT and then rode south along VT 100 and US 89 to take the exit to Randolph, VT
  7. Rode along Bethel Mountain Road to Rochester, VT and then turned south and headed home along VT 100, US 4, US 89 and US 93

Notes
  1. Although not technically part of this trip, VT 125 has an interpretive trail showcasing some of the poems by Robert Frost and is worth the visit. One can even walk up to his cabin and the whole area is just unbelievably beautiful and calm in fall!
  2. In Hancock, VT, at the junction of VT 125 and VT 100, there is an easy to miss gas pump with a sign that says the premium fuel there has no ethanol blended in there. Didn't get a chance to try that out on this trip though.
  3. The Alpinestars Andes V3 jacket was pretty good at keeping me warm along with some ski gloves

Nice early morning short ride from Surprise to Yarnell AZ on the Scrambler 1200 XE. Tested a few mods that I performed yesterday; Grip puppies, Shinko 705s, and put preload on both ends to full hard. Suspension felt more planted. Tried the 705s on a short stretch of easy dirt road and they are a vast improvement over the stock tires.
