Gears and redline just seemed so short.

Had the Bobber in the shop this week and took a Trident out for a test ride. Was quick if I nailed the shifts just right but the redline seemed so low for a sport bike and mid speed riding really seemed lackluster. Had fun with some easy to control wheelies and great maneuverability. But the power just wasn't there, Bobber seems to be able to use third gear for just about everything. Is this really just a beginners technical course bike, am I biased , or just need a 900 or something to have fun on?

If you weren’t in Rain Mode, and the bike was run in, and you’re an experienced rider used to more than 80HP - then you might be expecting more than it can give.

Trident does stop revving around 10k, but delivers 90% max. linear Torque from 3-9000 rpm. I’m a fan (returning biker).

Try a Street Triple RS if you want more Sports - I think the Trident isn’t for you.

How naive of the dealer not to realise their demo bike was actually going out for a joy ride, not a test ride.
I think it’s absolutely appalling that a Trident doesn’t perform like a Speed Triple. I mean seriously Triumph, what a disaster.
With any luck the mechanic will have taken the OP’s Bobber out for a “test ride” and return the favour. And then ridicule it because it doesn’t perform like a Rocket 3.

Rocket 3 would might be bit quicker... and I love the longitudinal engine, but it would be a poor purchase for me for a few reasons besides price and probably extra credit points on my license. The demo bike only had 4500 miles and for $7000 didn't seem like a bad deal or slow but I definitely didn't realize I was hitting 10K , gears were just short. Wheelies were EASY to manage with the frame and weight and could be found in 2nd if hit just right, it could carve but I must have just been expecting more straight line performance. Seems like a few years ago I was hearing from friends a 600 was more than enough for my or their needs.
Read about a tiny new K25 engine that makes 40 torque at 19000k and weighs almost nothing but rhino it's staying in Asia.
I'll just have to keep my bike and get some HC pistons to hold me over until I get something different.
