Hi Terry, yes thats the one im trying but i still get the same error message?

Ive tried different ones to and they all say the same error message?

Is it because the computer is not connected to the bike do you think? Just wanted to do a trial run before hooking the ecu up.

If you download the map to your pc? Or tablet? Then use tuneecu to open the file, you get a file corrupt message, have I got that right?
if that’s the case then there’s something wrong with the download params. Could it be downloaded as text or something?

That is correct Don, i dont know sorry, i just click on the file, Save it then use TuneEcu to open/download it which is when i get the message.

Ok I’ll have a play and see if I can reproduce it. It may be a while because I need to dig up a windows machine (I’m an iOS person now).
this seems a bit weird. Is the file size correct?

I'm sorry tobe so vague , I dont know, I haven't altered any parameters of the download from TcuEcu.

All i do is Download, Save, Then find the file to Upload from where i saved it and then i get the message.

I apologise in advance if I teach you to suck eggs But.. the downloaded file is a zip file if you try to open it in tuneecu it will say it’s corrupt.
The correct file has a .hex extension and should be 75k in size. If it’s less then that then it’s wrong. I don’t have windows 7 to hand but if You double click/open the actual file you downloaded, you may get an option to extract the .hex file. Copy that file to whereever you are storing the maps

Absolutely fine Don, im awful at computers doh..

I click on the Zip file which then sends me to the Hex File. I click on the hex file and that is when TuneEcu gives me the Message.

Click on the zip file. Right click on the hex file and select copy from the context menu.
Then paste that hex file into the tuneecu folder (I would recommend creating a sub folder called maps for it)
Then start tuneecu and select file/open then navigate to the folder containing the hex file.

Unzip the file and put the unzipped file in the same folder as TuneECU.
Open TuneECU.
Click on dropdown menu 'File'
Click on dropdown menu item 'Open Map File'
Navigate to your TuneECU folder and click on the now unzipped 10181 file.
10181 will appear in TuneECU
Connect to your bikes ECU.
Confirm connection established by flickering green light
Click on dropdown menu 'ECU'
Click on dropdown menu item 'Download'
Warning message 'incorrect map files can damage engine' will appear
Proceed.....
Map will download to ECU. Progress bar will show % complete.
At end 'Download Complete' will appear.
Go to 'Tests' tab.
Click 'Reset TPS'
Confirm 'Reset TPS'
At end 'Reset TPS Done' message will appear.
Go back to 'Map Edit' tab
Click on dropdown menu 'ECU''
Click on dropdown menu item 'Disconnect'
Once disconnected OBDII cable can be unplugged

Well couldnt get TuneEcu to connect to the Bike, Managedto move the folder etc already for upload so many thanks to you guys.

I removed the headlight fuses, Full battery on tender, Laptop all plugged in kill switch on etc still not connecting?

Brand new lead so im confused.

is the lead a known one like lonetec? If the lead is ok then it will be the drivers. Read the instructions on installing the drivers, you must install the right ones (more zip files, I afraid). If you used the windows drivers, it won’t work.

Right get this you lovely people...Managed to get it to connect i was using serial port not USB :/ lol
Anyway...

Aftermarket exhaust map 10181 loaded, The bike go'slike stink! but does still cut out and the idle is low at around 950/1000 the map is set at 1200rpm.

I then tried the standard exhaust, again bike very smooth a little less power and the idle 925-980ish lumpy as to low and yes it cuts out. Map set at 1325rpm

So im thinking, coolant temp sensor to the gauge is reading ok on the dash but reading to low for the ecu making it chuck more fuel in than needed.

What do you guys reckon??

Thankyou for all your help btw :)

Got there in the end! There is a warm up map but that should set the idle higher not lower. Could there be an air leak possibly in iacv hoses or the throttle body transition pieces?
also lookup TPS reset, cant remember how to do it but it’s in the tuneecu docs.

When the bike is piping Hot fan on and i turn it off, then after a minute turn it back on the RPM stays high around 1,500rpm, it wont come down unless i ride it making or presumably until the temp comes down?

I did do the TPS reset both times once i'd loaded both maps.

iac valve hoses all look new, clear tubing , been replace before, I did notice a little oil, blow by on the 3rd cylinder throttle body intake rubber, very fine mist. I had been cleaning around there and notice that cylinder rubber was damp.

So I’ve been busy, finally worked out how to upload maps and reset the TPS. Went for a ride and she seemed a lot better, But!! I decided to check the plugs to see if they were burning better , big mistake I broke the fuel tank unions to the feed and return lines doh!

736219

They were sooted up last time, after a change of map and a 50 mile ride they were turning grey which they should be.
Typically me since the tank was off I did more work, removal of the throttle bodies to clean and the frame and engine. New throttle cables Fitted as the butterfly’s were sticky too.

chain slipper also worn right through so that was replaced along with new sprockets and chain. Also drained the coolant and fitted a new temp sensor.

bike now runs and rides a dream.
