Interesting thread... When I was buying my bike I was looking at both the Thruxton R and the V7 III Racer, and also the BMW R nineT... I have always wanted a Triumph and that, at the end, is why I ended up with the Thruxton... never had a chance to test ride the V7 III Racer nor the BMW... the force was strong with the Thruxton R...

Just some minor commentary... the Thruxton is kind of off in its own territory. Perhaps the R nineT is the best competition -- I just feel like the styling and intention in the new Thruxton is likely not competing too much with the Bonneville/Scrambler territory. I could be wrong in thinking this, but for example at the price point and capability of the R nineT, we never even considered it as competition between a Bonneville (or Street Twin) and V7 when looking at a bike for my wife. Even now, I'm in the market for a new bike, and those two are kind of up in a category that begs me to consider jumping genres.

Once you get near $15K and past 75hp -- I think you're in wild country, for much less money or similar you're suddenly looking at all the naked bikes trying to determine which way to go (and even other categories). Maybe this is why I only buy the mid-power, lower price point bikes though, feels like once I'm at the upper end of costs I can look out across the options and never make a decision. Okay, okay, enough, just my two cents again...

FWIW, between the Thruxton R, V7III Racer, and R nineT -- I'd go with the Thruxton R as well....

Pastiche is a great word to describe that feeling, IMO. Regardless of which you choose, you really can't go wrong! They're both amazing bikes.
In my case, they were in the same league because it was the three that I liked, in terms of looks. I was not comparing and making my decision based of cost, reliability, proximity to dealer, etc...it was pure superfluous beauty that I was after... next on my list was comfort... and like I said, did not ride the other two, on that I only went by reviews and videos... but the first time a test rode the Thruxton I almost walked out with it that day... I can ride this bike for hours without any issues...this is coming from riding the big Harley’s touring bikes and Softails...

To the OP, this is not to influence your purchase... Buy what your passionate to own and do not overthink it. If the Moto Guzzi is what is moving your senses, go for it. Everything else can be worked out.
