Hi

Have a 2023 Speed twin 900. First year and starting to plan for storage for winter. My dealer said a standard wheel stand for rear using universal or with swing arm spools will not work given swept pipes extend over swing arm areas and rear wheel.

only suggested change would be a center stand which I prefer not to do

wondered if anyone encountered this and had a solution

shouldn't be any flat spots as no weight on the tires. If it makes you feel better, you could rotate them or give 'em a good spin occasionally
scissors jack will work, just stick a block in the scissors to keep it from lowering or a regular lift. make sure to use straps to stabilize it

After owning every conceivable motorcycle stand over decades I settled on the ABBA Superbike Stand.
You can get the rear lift only version or the front & rear lift version which allows removal of either wheel for service.
Adapters are available, and reasonably priced, to use the stand on different bikes.

Works GREAT on my Street Twin 900. Stable and easy to use. Best stand I've ever had...

Same style exhaust as on my Thruxton. There's a ton of room for a generic paddock stand that picks up a pair of bobbins on the swing arm. As you can see by the photo, the stand and the muffler aren't particularly close to one another.
Street/Speed Twin 900s have NO facility for bobbins except the rod through the axle which precludes removing the rear wheel.

If your concern is only storage for the winter and NOT being able to service your bike
or remove a wheel then your side stand will do the job nicely.

I've been putting my bikes to sleep in the garage for the winter on a side stand with a battery tender for decades and decades. The only thing I do differently than during riding season is to move the bike to the other side of the garage.

Not a bad idea to fill the gas tank and use some Stabil fuel stabilizer.

You need not be concerned about the tires.

I use an Optimate or Schumacher tender, whichever is handy, though quick disconnects for one week a month. My garage is heated and insulated and we can get down to the teens.

The batteries in my bikes generally last 9+ years.

I'm with Key_2 on this. I've got the same ST900 2023 as you. I have a 25 year old junker lift I've chopped and lowered to only lift my 900 about 1/2" off the ground. (13" from ground to apex btw) . A: 1/2" diameter x 6" bolt slips into the left axle hole, a 3/8" dia 6" long fits into the right hole. Some elec tape just to keep it from sliding after you insert bolts since the angle is problematic. The washers aren't needed . . .for another bike long ago.
I prefer the 1/2" lift for the super EZ effort compared to a 3". Hey, no tire warmer track wraps in my garage, lol. I use this set-up for fast chain lubing. Got a bad back and a center stand is tempting fate.

I have the stock Triumph center stand and there is no downside to it. It’s super easy to install and is out of your way, until you need it. It’s also very easy to get the bike up on it. It’s the easiest way to service your chain. I like to reduce the weight on my tires for winter storage. Whatever method you use, if your tires are on cold concrete it’s best to put some thick cardboard under them. It’s cheap insurance, there are strong opinions about cold concrete being hard on rubber.

Hi All - wanted to circle back here to the thread and let you know my outcome.

I bought the abba stands and fitment for the ST900 and it did not work well at all. I just don’t think abba works well with this bike but must say abba tech and customer service was great and the stand works flawless on my sport bike

I ended up installing the OEM center stand. It was easy to install for the ST 900 and works well. Really no clearance issues and I have a steep drive way. It’s a solid product and also think it tucks away nicely when not in use and like I can still use and did not have to remove the side stand.

I have a factory center stand and the ABBA front & rear superbike stand.

The ABBA works great for me wondering what didn't you like about it on the Street Twin?

I have a 2023 Speed Twin, not a Street Twin. Unsure if it was that or operator error. The angle on the pivot arm just seemed to never be right. I tried to do it before and after the kickstand and tie wrapped the foot pegs. The other bikes went up with a little tilt and with ease but Speed Twin was a big struggle and I even ended up breaking a couple of side panels that were not cheap to replace. Don’t know if operator error or just something new on placement of the 2023 that did not work well. I confirm the fitment was for a 2023 Speed Twin

The Street Twin that was is NOW the Speed Twin 900.

To clear up the confusion is your 2023 Speed Twin a 900 or a 1200?

If you have a 2023 Speed Twin 900 the ABBA stand should work the same for you as it does for me.

Here’s how I do it…

Put the bike on the side stand.

Remove plastic cover from LH swingarm pivot.

Remove sprocket cover and rubber cover from RH swingarm nut.

Fold back and fix both rider footpegs back.

Insert fittings in the left and right ABBA stand.

With the bike resting on the side stand put the left hand ABBA stand on the left swingarm pivot with the bottom of the stand facing forward.

Put the right hand ABBA stand on the right swingarm pivot and onto the left ABBA stand arm..

Screw the right ABBA stand T bar till it fits snugly over the swingarm nut.

DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. Snug up the black knob on the right ABBA stand.

Stand up the bike and pull out the ABBA stand handle all the way.

With the bike standing stable on both ABBA stand feet put up the bike's side stand.

Grunt and pull the ABBA extended handle forward.

When you're done... MAKE SURE THE FOOTPEGS ARE STILL HELD BACK then lower the bike off the ABBA stand then put the side stand down.

With the bike on the side stand unscrew the T handle and black knob on the RH ABBA stand and remove from swingarm pivot.

Remove the LH ABBA stand. Put footpegs back and install sprocket and swingarm pivot covers.

Excuse the fuzzy pics.

I use one of these adjustable padded rear stands (right image) and it works on my ST900. I do not bother putting it on the stand for winter storage; I use the stand for maintenance like cleaning/oiling the chain. It works fine for this purpose. The front (left image) fits too. Not the best solution for storage but as an FYI that these work on stock Street Twin 900 / Speed Twin 900.
