Hi folks, I got given this QD rear drum, I've not seen them with breather holes like this before. Anyone know what was up with this? Some kind of racing modification for cooling???
Neither Meriden nor Small Heath cast QD drums, the name of the caster escapes me right now, better-known for making lawnmowers (not Atco) ...no Triumph logos
Uh-uh. "1040" is part of the Triumph part number (W1040) for a standard '63-'70 46-tooth QD drum. I speculate the holes were bored for an off-road special, so any water entering the drum fording a river, say, drained out quickly.The holes were definitely cast in
