Currently have no wind screen on Street Twin that I bought last summer. Wondering #1 how big of a screen is needed to cut down on buffeting and #2 any recommendations for Triumph screens or other makes? I really like the look of my bike w/o wind screen, but if I want to do any highway riding with friends a screen would make it more comfortable riding.
Also, I reallly don't like the mirror design on my Twin. I'm not that big and even I have as hard time seeing traffic behind with stock mirrors. Anyone out there installed mirrors onto handlebar ends like with the Street Cup and other bikes?
I have a T120 . . . not sure if the mirrors are even similar on a the Street Twin, but . . . I could not see behind me well at all on the T120 when I got it and swapping out the mirrors was high on my list. A couple of weeks in I figured out the mirrors are not symmetric vis-a-vis the mounting point and spinning the mirrors 180 degrees solved the issue. YMMV.
I have the Triumph Touring windshield on my T120. I think the bike looks much better without it but it eliminates the wind blast on my chest so I tolerate it (at least until the warmer months). Depending on your height, you might find that a summer screen or a flyscreen does the job for you.:dunno
Triumph's so called touring screen is definitely not tall enough for me ( 5'11"). I have added an extra 2" deflector to reduce the noise caused by the air flow being deflected to neck level just under the lip of my helmet. Its certainly not a wind tunnel tested design.
I Have a Dart Classic flyscreen on my bike and it makes a bit of a difference for me at 5”8. I’d rather have it then not, but I’ll be moving to the Triumph summer screen soon enough.
