New Bike, Melbourne, Aus T120 Ace

Hello All,

Thought I would put up a few pics of my new bike in the correct section. 2020 T120 Ace, Number 435 to be exact.

Loving the Black matte paint, first Triumph even though I've been a member since 2009.

Was supposed to get a street triple when I created the account ten years ago however there were none available at the time, so I bought a CB1000R first and then a Streetfighter 848 after that.

Now that I'm a little older I decided to get back into bikes after an 18 month break. At first I was going to get a Kawasaki Z900RS but the first dealer I spoke to didn't want to budge on price much so when I visited the second dealer who was also a Triumph dealer and had a T120 Black standing there I totally forgot about the Z900rs. The dealer saw that I liked the T120 Black and said 'I have something even more special than that and showed me the ACE" I bought it pretty much straight away after that. Love the look of it.

Anyway, I have a few mods planned for it like bar ends and, brown leather comfort seat, possibly the small triumph screen, motone tail tidy (on its way) meerkat decat and some non pea shooter pipes at some stage in the future. But happy with the purchase so far. I have only done 150km on it so far and cant wait till I get over the initial break in period.

Thanks for the great forum. Here are some pics

Hi orky79. Congratulations!

Great looking bike!

Give me a shout if you are considering selling the OEM bench seat (when get your brown leather comfort seat).

I've recently bought a silver T120 and am considering buying the black bench seat. We might be able to help each other out.

Cheers
David

I hear running is good for you, but the ice cubes keep falling out of my glass.

Thanks all,

Nearly 500km on it now, put on a tail tidy and my custom plate, much prefer the black plate to the original white. Bar end mirrors next.

Congrats! I bought my T-120 in 2016 when they first came out. A buddy of mine contacted me and said '
" You should check this bike out. I took it for a ride and bought it on to the spot!"

So I took a ride down to the local dealer. There was a beautiful one in the Burgandy color, mmm. I took it for a ride and very impressed. I took my wife back the next day to do a 2 up ride with her and we both liked it. I bought right after that test ride.

Skip forward a couple years and the Z900RS comes out and I'm smitten. I was able to arrange for a test ride on a 2018 and was very impressed. I test ride a lot of bikes and few end up being the kind that scream "I WANT TO RIDE THIS HOME!". Both the T-120 and Z900RS hit that mark.

I bought a new 2019 about 1.5 months later. Now they sit in the garage together and make an excellent pair. Both very good, both retro vintage that I love, pretty much competitors in their day, but offer completely different ride experiences. I doubt I'll ever sell either of them.

Replace that Headlight with a Motodemic Black and it'll be even more wicked!! Not quite as vintage though what with LEDs rather than incandescents.

I'm happier than a tornado in a trailer park.

I am considering adding the Motodemic headlight to the list but there are a few other mods I want to do first. Meercat xpipe being one of them, as well as some exhausts, don't need them loud, just would prefer something more upswept as per thruxton or speed twin and not pea shooter. something along the line of the remus pipes.

In the meantime. Bar ends are on, though not sure if I will keep them below the handlebars as per pic or put them above the bars. Love the look of them below, cleans up the bike nicely but cant see a great deal in them, although I always do a head check anyway.
