What I am interested in finding out is the relative volume of different slip ons. The cat has been deleted so i dont need information on mufflers with cats. I only plan on changing the slip ons so not interested in full exhaust etc. I have installed an x-pipe already so I am interested only in volume of bikes with the xpipe removed. Of course I am sure someone will comment about the volume with the cat, but I don’t need that information.
Here is what I have figured out so far with the x pipe removed from quietest to loudest:
Stock mufflers (quietest) < vance and hines with db killers < cone eng shorty performers < straight pipes (loudest)
The TEC mufflers fit in between the Vance and Hines and the Cone Eng Shorty performers. The TEC ones are a little, but not a lot, quieter than the Cone Eng ones.
I have the Cone shorty's with a Motone x pipe and while its pretty loud, and has some popping its not too loud. I had the cone shorty's before installing the x pipe and liked it, after adding the Motone xpipe I now love how my bike sounds. Prior to having the cat removed and Cone shorty's installed I had the British Customs shorty's, and they were barely louder than the stock exhaust.
I have the debaffled Remus for sale if anyone is interested. They don’t fit my Speed Twin.
