Opinions on Helmet replacement after minor spill

I recently had the front wheel come out from under me and went down. Not too hard but did hit my head. All near the chin and faceshield. I have a shoei gt air 3 yrs old. BTW great helmet didnít feel a thing. Iím not sure that I need a replacement. Donít laugh at the touch up paint not even close !!

Any scuff on the paint means you hit the inside enough to crush some of the EPS foam. It's toast; get a new one, then mount this one in a place of honour, since it gave its life to save yours.

Aren't you glad you had a full-face helmet!

If the foam in the inside of the helmet is compressed, you should replace it. And presumably it is compressed since you impacted the pavement. The compression of the foam is what saves you from a concussion or a broken jaw/teeth...

They are optimal for about 5 years anyways (depending on usage), so I think it deserves a nice retirement

Ask yourself what your head is worth...

Get a new one. Helmets are cheap insurance.
