2018 or 2019 Street Scrambler?

I’m in the market for a Triumph Street Scrambler .. it’s a great machine, and I love some of the clean mods you can do pretty much straight out of the catalog (I have another question soon re; exhaust options). There are 2018 machines still available at dealers with some pretty sweet incentives, and of course the new updated 2019 is available. Are the updates (extra hp) really worth the extra cost (in this case couple thousand $)? Appreciate your opinions

Really depends on the price difference. The 2018 is still a really solid, fun bike, the 2019 will obviously be better. Keep in mind that with the 2018 as soon as you're out the door, the bike is a 1 year old bike, something to consider depending on how long you keep your bikes If the 2018 is just 1500$ less I'd go with the 2019. If its 3000$ less, then the 2018 could be a good deal as you dont have to worry about depreciation, they've absorbed it for you.

Prices aside, both are great bikes and loads of fun that would make you smile every time you start it up

Yeah, the diff is more like $3k plus $1000 Triumph cash (whatever that is) ... included to gone the 2018. Plus it’s the colour scheme I really like (black). These are the hard decisions in life 😉

Can you test drive it? If you can and you like it and don't try the 2019, you wont miss the power you never had

I put 70000km on my 2015 Scrambler and never missed having more power (after owning a Monster 1100, Superduke 990, Speed Triple, FZ8, FZ09, etc...). When I tried my friends 2018 Scrambler it felt more torquy than my 2015 and sounded amazing with the vince and hines. I dont see how you could be disappointed if you're getting a great deal on it. The Triumph cash is for accessories (thats where the exhaust comes into play)...

I'd go for the 2018 (I've got one). The main difference with the 2019 is that it revs to 7500 I think but these bikes are best between 2000 and 4000 in my opinion with bags of mid range torque. There's no need to go anywhere near 7500.

Thanks all .. I'll report back where I land! End of the day, both bikes are awesome. Since I really like the black color and the pricing is attractive, leaning to the 2018.

Still hung up on exhaust options. Inspired by others posts to find a Vance and Hines scrambler exhaust (de-cat), but I've noted the Triumph catalogue has the Vance and Hines slip on silencer. Anyone know if that produces the same sound and power goodness?

For what's it's worth. I considered a 2019, but due to the incentives, and it being my first bike, I bought a 2018 Street Twin (please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the 2019 Street Twin had similar upgrades as the Scrambler 18-19).

I figured save the money now, have fun, get used to the bike, and if I want something "more" later, either trade it in, or drop in a new CAM, do the exhaust, and front brembo, and I basically have a 2019 anyway. The cost of all that is about what the difference was for a 2019, but I might never go that route and have flexibility.

I just went through the same dilema. Ended up with the Ď18 solely because i got such a great deal on it. Iím not sure how much happier I would have been with a little more power and brembo brakes, but my wallet has more money for gear and upgrades.

Deposit down on a 2018 .. using the $ saved to buy accessories. Rear fender delete kit, fox rear shocks, headlight grill. Searching for the Vance and Hines full 2-1 exhaust and a custom short front fender. Stay tuned!
