Changing the valving will do diddly squat if the settings are not right.

Obviously you dont start adjusting your suspensions by having the valving redone....its something you do when the available adjustments donít allow you to achieve proper results.

I will retire from this post as I feel it will go on for years with all the suspension experts opinions, including people that havent even tried an XE.

To those that arent happy with the harshness of your stock shocks on your XE, at least now you know what parts need to be replaced to get a less harsh ride.

Cheers guys and keep it shiny side up!

If there's anyone else following this thread looking for a solution to improve comfort on their XE. Here's how I finally resolved it :P
Cheers!

No thanks! After what Honda Canada did to their long term dealers in order to "position themselves as better than any other manufacturer" they can go and f*ck themselves.

Besides how does buying that improve the comfort of the 1200XE?

And for some balance, look here.

The bike was completely stock except for some pannier racks he had made up and a small screen.

Like I said from the beginning, I'm really happy for those enjoying the bike. It's the bike I dreamed of for over 10 years. I had high expectations and though I kept my 865cc Scrambler for 70000km, after 6000km on the XE, I tapped out. Someone who rides it on nice roads, and doesn't have the electrical problems I've had with the bike (gear position sensor that caused the cruise control to fail, traction control to act up, couldnt start with kickstand out (cause it didnt know it was in neutral), and absence of gear position on the cluster), there's honestly a lot of love about the bike, and if Triumph listen to their customer feedback, the 2020 or 2021 should be amazing. When I called Triumph once for the gear position sensor that took for ever to arrive, I asked out of curiosity if they heard a lot of complaints about the suspensions, and the guy was quite honest, he said they received quite a few complaints regarding the XE suspensions being too harsh.

Saying that all owners will be disappointed by this bike would be a ridiculous claim. Some people ride hard tails and are completely in love. Some people have 800lbs Harleys and it's the bike of their dreams. Some people tour on a race bike...

It's humor. I sold the XE to buy the Africa. Great improvement on comfort.

Also, not familiar with what Honda did to their dealers. Whatever they did, probably not the first time a big corporation screws over their dealers unfortunately...

Wonder what Ernie Virgil did to his to get a too 5 finish in the Baja 1000. Probably the most flogged Scrambler yet.

Really would have loved to put my hands on that bike. I wouldn't be surprised if suspensions had been altered. Though I'm sure even with the stock suspensions he would have been competitive. Also riding on sand, dirt roads and riding on rough pavement isn't the same at all.
