Welcome Back2-2!

I am pleased to announce we have a new moderator for the Twins section joining the ranks. @Back2-2 has graciously agreed to take on those duties. He's a level-headed sort with a ton of motorcycling experience, and has moderated other forums. He's a good addition to the moderating team I do think.

So, please take a second to welcome him. And thanks for the help @Back2-2 !

I promise to never do any of those things, pinky swear.

Normally I would never post mod suggestions in a thread but this is a mod thread, so...

May I suggest a first order of business? The two hot threads about the new Street Twin in Water Cooled Twins Talk are about the same topic. They might be better off merged into one thread.

I'll let you decide which one is deserved of the sole survivor crown (hint: it is the older thread, and the only one I bothered posting in ).

There are actually 3 new Street Twin threads if you count the Street “Twim” thread.

Agreed on a merge!

Hey Guy's, I read through both of the threads and in my opinion they have both in sense veered off to each groups interests and discussion. There is a total of 8 pages between the two and I think it makes it easier reading for a new to the thread reader to cover each separately and see where they would prefer to hang out. I suspect each of you have already choose the one you like to engage in.

When threads get really long it is sometimes just too much to try and pick-up and get into. So I am going to leave them as the are. It's basically "no harm, no foul".

If you say so.

As a parting suggestion, the moderation approach you're advocating may very well encourage laziness, where posters start duplicate threads and expect spoon fed answers to questions that have already been answered, instead of just doing the requisite reading and learning along the way while the thread grows and the topic is fully fleshed out in one organized place.

End result of the hand off approach is a general mess of duplicate thread topics that drives away the more savvy folks due to frustration in answering the same questions over and over in different places. Also makes searching less effective since the topic gets fractured over many different threads. More time is wasted, than not.

Speculation, but has anyone noticed very few posts from @Forchetto here lately? Above reasons might be an explanation.

Been around forums for a long time, seen tight run ships, and the opposite. I know which type I prefer, and where I put in time as a result.

Point taken.
Using your theory every time some asked about say tubes of spokes or crank case vent ect... they would have to be merged to one thread that would be 500 pages long. That does not seem very practical. I know this is a high paid position that should have no limits to the work and time involved but that would get out of hand.

I sincerely doubt that is why Mr. Forchetto has not been involved lately. I don't think there is anyone that enjoyed helping others and was so outstanding at it. I have never seen anyone so knowledgeable and so willing to help on any site I have ever been on. The guy never held judgement of peoples questions regardless of how many times they had been asked.

I'm sorry we may disagree and I do see your point.
