From German to Brit: Airhead to Bonnie

Well, I guess you could say the Battle of Britain has been won.

After a few years of fulfilling my obsession with BMW airheads, I sold my 1974 R75/6 for a leftover 2017 T100 Black

Aus mit die alte, as they say...

And in with the new...

I loved the old airhead, but for self preservation I made a deal with myself to only ride bikes with ABS and modern electronic traction control. Plus, as awesome as my airhead was, I decided that I’m really not a member of the ye-olde-carburetor-noodling guild.

Took a friend’s late model Bonnie for a spin, and loved how comfortable and smooth it was. It was everything I liked about my airhead in a thoroughly modern package. FWIW I also test rode a couple of BMW RNineTs. and beside the harsh seat and uncomfortable ergos, I disliked the annoyingly raspy exhaust note. They’re like high strung Airedale terriers compared to the Triumph’s warm and comfortable Black Lab vibe.

Bike has a “touring package” with large windscreen, comfort seat, rear rack and backrest, and engine “dresser bars.” Adding OEM heated grips because, well, heat. Looking forward to delivery in a week or two. Will post more pics and ask a few questions then I’m sure! (And finally figured out you have to upload pics here rather than using a third-part site...last edit!)
