Checking Coolant on Thruxton R

Anyone else have a hard time seeing the coolant level on the Thruxton R without taking off the sprocket cover? Without a flash light it look empty and with a flash light the whole things green. What's the trick?

Surprised you got no reply........ I just tried checking mine on the Speed Twin with a torch but couldn’t definitively gauge where the level was. Will remove the sprocket cover.......
Anyone care to add how they check the coolant level.......

I just checked mine the other day, it takes less than a minute to undo 4 bolts to pull the sprocket cover off and put back on, no big deal and a lot easier to see the level, after 1 1/2 years the level is the same.

Yup. Thats what you have to do to get an accurate look. PITA. Almost 3 yrs on the R and still full when cold.

Masquerading every day as a normal person is exhausting.

No worries just thought there might be a shortcut for it. The torch trick works on some bikes...........

Its quicker taking those 4 little bolts out than trying to see the level in that small sight area, so really the sprocket cover removal and putting back on is the shortcut

You need a torch and good eyesight to check the oil too. Not loving the smoked glass oil window. Fortunately doesn't seem to burn oil or coolant.
