Well, after 7 weeks without my SM Corbin as produced a standard solo seat with a back rest for the 2018 Speedmaster. Just picked it up today and so far it's GREAT. Seat back is adjustable and the matching Pillion will be delivered in about a week. Love the way they added the braid to match the gold trim paint on the tank. This one has a heated seat which I think will be optional on the standard seat. They should have the seat on their website soon and the model bike is mine. if you have any questions or want a different picture, let me know. It's not raining today so I will be off riding somewhere........ dave
Hopefully they do a version without the backrest and the hole for the backrest. I am not the least bit interested in having a backrest and certainly do not want hole in the back of the seat just because it is an option. Why ruin the lines of the solo seat?
The backrest is optional. It can also be easily removed with a single screw. I'll only use the backrest for longer trips. Since they made it to match the seat, I took it.
OK, here are a couple of pictures without the backrest. Easy to remove. The seat has a locking the locks the seat into place. As I mentioned earlier, the Pillion matching seat is being fabricated and will get it in about a week.
They have a lot of different styles of backrest. They are all compatible so you just pick the one you want and they match it to whatever leather you choose for your seat. I'm actually trying this one out and may change it. They made this one first because apparently this model is the most popular.
Ok, Allen has flat disappeared for all of 9 days.......
I can only assume that that new Corbin seat is SO COMFORTABLE that he's riding his Speedmaster 24x7 ever since putting it on.
Allen - if you even land back on earth, we'd love to hear a detailed report on how the seat does in short and long rides, all the pluses, and any negatives.
Ok, so now I have 100 miles on the new Corbin Seat and it's GREAT. I rode it with and without the backrest and to tell you the truth without the backrest is just as comfortable. With the stock seat my lower back killed after about 20 miles. I rode without the backrest for 70 miles with no problems. I am planning a long trip this summer and will use the backrest, easier to relax in the saddle during long rides. HOWEVER, I have discovered that when you hit a bump the mono shock will rub against the bottom of the seat. (I don't want to hear any fat jokes) They are working the problem and should be OK by the time they release it for production. Hope this helps.
Just what we all were hoping to hear! Now let's spread the word about this seat to the Triumph world - the news just may help sell more Speedmasters..........
Well, I think I have the Speedmaster almost set. New Corbin seat and a Dart windscreen. All I need to do is throw on a set of bags and off I go. Took a 210 miles test ride yesterday and that seat with the back rest is one of the most comfortable seats I have ever had. I was worried about the beach bars but with cruise control it's easy to rest the hands and wrists. Bigger danger is the bike is so stable that riding hands free is tempting, but not recommended.

That is a beautiful bike! I started with a set of throw over bags but switched to hard bags. As a result I have a set of Triumph bag mounts. Those chrome bars that keep the bags out of the wheel. If you haven’t got a set yet, let me know if you want mine.
Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I have a set of Cortech bags I used with my old Bonneville so may try those first to see how they fit. Funny, my wife is Las Vegas now.
I like the looks of the Dart windscreen and it does a good job keeping the wind off your chest. I'm 6 feet so the wind does hit my helmet and my shoulders. I purchased the largest Dart windscreen for the SM, they have 3 different models. It always comes down to looks versus function. Also the bigger the windscreen the lower gas mileage. Good luck with your bike and be safe.
I have ordered a Corbin Solo through fast Eddy .I have bought a SM which wont be delivered until Monday BUT as I'm going overseas for three months on the 6th.I've arranged for them to do a few mods.Leave the bike at the dealer, register it,extend the warranty 3 months and deliver it when I get back.Pretty good xsrvice I think.
Wow, it's going to be a long three months with a new SM waiting for your return. Nice of them to extend your warranty. I have 1,000 miles on the bike now and with the Corbin Seat and Dart windscreen I love it. I'm planning a long trip this summer, about 5,000 miles or until I start looking at people in cars with envy. Stay safe wherever your going and post a pic of your SM when you return.
Dave....
I thought the same but the one I got for my America seems smaller than the one pictured and on the owest setting in the seat it doesn't stand out too much IMO plus the hole is handy for attaching straps for a bag on the rack behind.Actually I don't use the back rest much but on long rides it helps .
Here is a picture of the standard seat compared to the Corbin seat for the SM. Not sure if this helps but you can see the Corbin has more thickness. The width is the same and it has a deeper saddle to support the lower back, which us olds'ters, need.
I wanted to thank you for getting the solo seat done for us solo seat guys. Just got mine today, and the quality is top notch. They said it would be 3 to 4 weeks, but I received it in just under two weeks. Seems like a great company to deal with. Took a short ride and it feels good, it should make the long trips much more comfortable. Anyone that is on the fence about Corbin seats, I would suggest giving them a shot. The seat is firm, firmer than the stock seat and much firmer than the comfort. I just could not get that happy place with the the stock seat or the comfort seat. The comfort seat is good for short trips but it looses its support on long trips.
Anyway here are a few shots of my seat. I went with a the bomber black seating with grey stitching and the standard black sides and piping.
That's exactly what mine looked like. I did take it back they told me they fixed the mold for future seats. They just grinded mine down so I no longer have the problem. Talk to Freddy, don't know his last name, but he's the one that took care of my seat. Absolutely, send it back!
When you get a chance, would you please take a picture of the bottom of the seat pan to show what Corbin did to fix it for you? Thanks
