Looking for Advice

I'm new to this forum and my motivation for joining is because I want to buy a 2014-2016 Triumph Trophy SE. I believe it is best to talk to current and former owners to get the to know the good and the bad about the bike before you buy it. The internet and forums like this help achieve that goal quickly and you get good, honest information.

Please share your experiences with your Trophy, what should I look out for and should I be looking for a different model year. I don't want to spend more that $8500.00.

I live in SW Florida but I spend July and August in MI.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Be safe out there and redefine fun,

Mine has been pretty well perfect. Only thing I have done is ordinary maintenance and tire replacement. I did add head light and brake light modulators so make me a little more visible to autos.

Thanks Norton74 for your insight and for breaking the ice. What year is your Trophy and how many miles do you have on it?
Thanks again,

Great bikes, but read this before you buy. I posted this a couple of months ago in response to another who was looking at purchasing the TTSE.

Don't do it with a 2013 unless its had the heads & valves replaced, I had a 2013 for a little over 2 years. There was a factory defect with the 2013's and some 2014's where the heads were bad, many reports of engine failure at low miles. A sign of this is an unusual loud engine clatter. They all clatter and that's normal, but the ones with the bad heads & valves are considerably louder.

Triumph did a recall on all the Trophys in the UK in 2014. But for the rest of the world, they didn't do the recall. They instead instructed the dealerships to only do the head replacement if a customer complained about it, which I did. Here's a thread that I started on the Triump-Trophy Forum back in early 2015 https://www.triumph-trophy.com/index...ic,3652.0.html . There's a lot more information and other threads about it on this forum. With all this said, the TTSE in my opinion was the most advanced and technically sophisticated bike that Triumph had ever produced to that date. I've been riding for over 40 years and have owned just about as many bikes, the TTSE was one of the best bikes that I've ever owned, other than for the head issue. Its a luxury sport tourer, and it really did both long distance touring and sport riding equally and exceptionally well, and better than any other that I've owned. I would definitely own another one, except it would have to be a 2015 or 2016 model, they solved the issue with those model years..
Good Luck

Thanks for the advice. I'm looking at a 2014 TTSE so your words of wisdom are on target. Do you know if Triumph will take care of the problem for a second owner of the motorcycle?

Thanks again for all your help,

Hey Zebraranger,

I clicked on the link of the bulletin you had in your message to me and a message came up, Not Found. They, Triumph must have removed it. Do you have another source for it before I buy the bike, or stroll into the dealership's service department to discuss the coverage if needed?

Thanks again,

Thanks to all who posted advice on buying a TTSE. I just purchased a 2014 over the weekend and I can't wait to take it on a nice varied road ride.
